I absolutely loved Now You See Me. It's easily one of my favorite films of the year so far, as it was entertaining, fast-paced, and most importantly, fun to watch. Plus there was a bunch of magic, which is always awesome. So with all that considered, having the opportunity to talk exclusively with the magic caper's director, Louis Leterrier, in order to promote the Blu-Ray release, was one I was absolutely thrilled about.
September is upon us and the summer blockbuster season has come to an end, which means there's a bit of a lull in must-see movies hitting theaters. That doesn't mean there aren't any quality films worth checking out this month though, as there are still some very exciting, very highly anticipated releases coming our way.
Part of why House Of Cards was such a success in its first season was the excellent direction of David Fincher. While Fincher didn't direct every episode, he did direct the first two, which set the tone for the rest of the series. The unfortunate news we have today is that Fincher will not be back to direct any episodes in season 2 of the Netflix original.
A report has been floating around the web that Louis Leterrier will be directing Now You See Me 2, the sequel to his enormously fun magician thriller that hit theaters in the spring. It seems that everyone may have jumped the gun though as I spoke to Leterrier yesterday and asked about his involvement with the sequel. He said that while he is indeed interested in returning for it, he still doesn't know if he'll be able to direct the film and may only serve as a producer on it.
Casting for Avengers: Age Of Ultron hasn't been as exciting as say, Justice League, for the simple fact that the most of the major cast members will be returning from the previous film. That doesn't mean that there aren't characters who still need to be cast though, and one of the biggest that fans were guessing at was who would play the titular villain. Well the guessing ends today, as Marvel have announced that their Ultron will be James Spader.
Well this has been a phenomenal week so far for Matt Damon news. First, we hear there's a chance he may be rejoining the Bourne franchise along with Paul Greengrass, and now, not only has the actor and Oscar-winning screenwriter lined up his directorial debut, but he has taken on a role in Christopher Nolan's upcoming sci-fi flick Interstellar.
Less than 24 hours ago, word broke that Matt Damon & Paul Greengrass were in negotiations to do another Bourne film, causing action fans everywhere to be up all night with excitement over the possibility of another epic entry into the best rogue agent series ever. Now, it looks like everyone lost sleep for no reason at all, as Universal says the rumors about the negotiations are untrue.
As soon as Warner Bros. announced that the next actor to don the cape and cowl as Batman would be Ben Affleck, the internet exploded with an array of reasons why Affleck was the worst possible choice for the role. He doesn't look like Batman. He has a Boston accent. He sucked as Daredevil. He sucks as an actor. Those are just a few of the thousands of reasons people gave for their disagreement with Warner's decision.
Locke has a lot of people's attention, and not just because Tom Hardy is leading the film. The thriller from Steven Knight has been described as being shot in "real-time," basically meaning that Hardy is in every frame of the film, which follows him over a period that's as long as the movie itself. Today, we've got a little sample of the film's style in the way of a 45 second clip.
