Larry Crowne is an endearing romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. While it’s nothing we haven’t seen before, it has some cute moments, and a great pro-education message. It comes out in theaters today, and as dismal as box office reports are regarding its reception, I think it’s a wholesome romcom and worth a watch.
According to Deadline, Chris Hemsworth will return to play the god of thunder in Thor 2, set for a July 26, 2013 release. Marvel Studios and Disney have committed fully to making the sequel to this summer’s popular comic book adaptation Thor. Kenneth Branagh directed Thor, but Deadline reports that he won’t be coming back for Thor 2, though he’ll probably be involved in some producing capacity.

Upcoming Jon Chu-directed sequel G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes has signed on two new Joes. THR reports that rapper-turned-actor RZA is in negotiations to board the overhauled G.I. Joe part deux as martial arts expert "Blind Master". D.J. Cotrona is also joining the fresh cast as "Flint," a beret-wearing Joe soldier.
Thomas Jane is sick of making bad movies. I think that’s awesome, because I am sick of seeing bad movies. The gravelly-voiced action hero was caught in a candid moment earlier this week and dished about his general disgust with bad movies, as well as his new werewolf role, and why he left Sylvester Stallone’s Headshot. Collider caught the actor after the Saturn Awards and got some authentic Jane tidbits on his plans for the future.
Sanctum is an adventure thriller set in an unexplored cave system, most of which is submerged. It starts off fun enough, with a slow burn tension and plenty of amazing visuals, but very soon drowns in predictability and clichéd spelunking scenarios. The movie is beautiful to watch at times, but ultimately feels underdone.
Warner Bros. has big plans for Ed Helms. The studio has acquired a comedy pitch script meant as a starring vehicle for the lovable-but-anal-geek style comedic actor. According to Deadline, the comedy/drama True North will star Helms as a pompous travel show host.
With the release of yet another trailer, it certainly feels like Universal Studios has its promotional machine in high gear for upcoming sci fi/western Cowboys and Aliens. Cowboys and Aliens hits theaters on July 29, and it is yet to be determined whether genre-film fans will turn out to see it.
