I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
I've always felt Jared Leto's Joker got a bad rap. Sure, he's not a patch on either Heath Ledger or Joaquin Phoenix, but I enjoyed his scummy, tasteless art gangster take on the role. As such, it was disappointing that we never got to see him properly interact with Ben Affleck's Batman. After all, the two characters clearly shared an extensive offscreen past, as proven by the defaced Robin costume in the Batcave and Joker's super shiny metal grill being the result of the Dark Knight knocking his teeth out. But next month, the iconic pair will finally be brought together in Zack Snyder's Justice League.
It’s been thirty years since the awesome Gremlins 2: The New Batch hit cinemas and its reputation has been building over the decades to the point that it was the subject of one of the all-time funniest Key and Peele skits. Despite the property being on ice for so long, the cute Mogwai and the Gremlins certainly haven’t been forgotten about, as they're frequently referenced in adverts and have proved enduringly memeable. Of course, all eyes are now on HBO Max, where the franchise is officially coming back in new animated show Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai.
Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns transformed the image of the Caped Crusader. Prior to those films, most viewers still associated the Dark Knight with the Adam West show. Don't get me wrong, Batman '66 is awesome in its own right, but by 1989, the comics had long moved on from treating the characters like a cartoon.
Star Trek: Prodigy is coming soon, but despite production having begun on season 2, we still don't know when it'll premiere or even what it'll look like. It'll debut on Nickelodeon, though, is aimed at younger viewers and will follow the adventures of a group of teenagers who steal an abandoned starship. In addition, Voyager fans have been delighted by the news that Kate Mulgrew will reprise the role of Captain Janeway for the first time since her brief appearances in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis and 2006 video game Star Trek: Legacy.
Zack Snyder's Justice League is now just over a month away and I can't wait. The 214-minute behemoth will show the superhero blockbuster as its creator intended and will be a completely different beast from the terrible Joss Whedon version. Joe Manganiello will finally make a proper appearance as Deathstroke, Ezra Miller shot new scenes as the Flash from the Fantastic Beasts 3 set, the long-awaited return of Ben Affleck as Batman is on the way, and Jared Leto is reprising his Joker (who promptly reminded us that we live in a society).
More than three years on from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the dust has finally settled and fans are reevaluating it. After all, in the wake of The Rise of Skywalker, it looks a lot better by comparison and now, Rian Johnson has opened up about his thoughts on the film in a new interview with USA Today's Sariah Wilson.
