I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Robin Williams was one of the most beloved actors of his generation and his absence from the screen is sorely missed. Other than his comedy and movie and TV work, though, he was also a famous celebrity geek. He's renowned as a long-time fan of video games, going so far as to name his daughter Zelda after Nintendo's classic The Legend of Zelda series, but what's not so widely known is that he was also a pretty hardcore Trekkie.
The Silence of the Lambs is an incredible movie. The star attraction is Anthony Hopkins' Oscar-winning performance as Hannibal Lecter, but beyond him, it's a taut, brilliantly acted and nail-biting ride through madness, cruelty and murder. And for the most part, it's aged beautifully, with a major exception. The villain is serial killer Buffalo Bill, who captures young women in order to make an Ed Gein style skin suit.
Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation is set to tickle everyone's 80s nostalgia in a big way. The Netflix show will pick up where the original Masters of the Universe left off and boasts a hell of a voice cast. He-Man/Prince Adam is voiced by Chris Wood with support from Lena Headey (Evil-Lyn), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Teela), Kevin Conroy (Mer-Man), Henry Rollins (Tri-Klops), Tony Todd (Scare Glow), Alicia Silverstone (Queen Marlena) and Jason Mewes (Stinkor). But most exciting is Mark Hamill, coming out of semi-retirement to chew the scenery as Skeletor.
For the first ten years of the MCU, Robert Downey Jr. was the face of the franchise (sorry Chris Evans, but it's true). We got our introduction to this universe via Tony Stark in Iron Man and his heroic sacrifice closed out the Infinity Saga in Avengers: Endgame. Since then, it's felt like the Marvel Cinematic Universe could use another prominent poster boy. Sure, we still have Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch and so on, but they just don't feel like frontmen. That could all change soon, however, as Ryan Reynolds is now set to make his MCU debut in Deadpool 3.
Netflix's The Witcher roared out the gate in late 2019 to become a fan favorite and a ratings smash. The company was overjoyed at the success of their response to Game of Thrones and immediately made plans for six more seasons (and a couple of spinoffs). Had everything gone as they hoped, the next run would’ve aired in late 2020, roughly a year after the first one. But then the problems began and the show has since suffered a series of production nightmares.
Things used to be so simple. You'd get a bunch of young and pretty actors, mix up a couple of buckets of fake blood, make sure Kane Hodder is free for a few weeks and - boom - you've got yourself a Friday the 13th movie. Sadly, however, Jason Voorhees' cinematic rampage has been curtailed by a force more tenacious and single-minded than he could ever be: lawyers.
WandaVision has spent three episodes accurately parodying unfunny sitcoms, so it's a relief that today's outing finally moved the story forward a bit. "We Interrupt This Program" was mostly set outside of Wanda's sitcom reality, showing us S.W.O.R.D.'s attempts to understand the mysterious phenomenon that has apparently consumed a town and abducted various New Jersey residents.
