I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Brent Spiner has said he'll never play Data again, but Patrick Stewart's dropped a strong hint that he'll be back for more in Star Trek: Picard season 2.
The internet was rocked two days ago when The Fault in Our Stars and Baby Driver actor Ansel Elgort was accused of sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old girl. The allegations came via Twitter from someone only known as 'Gabby.' According to her, the pair had a relationship beginning when she was 17, during which he requested nude photos, took her virginity, tried to arrange group sex with her underage friends and threatened her if she went public.
"Falcon PUNCH!" and "Falcon KICK!" are truly iconic lines in video gaming, and were F-Zero and Super Smash Bros. hero Captain Falcon ever brought to the big screen, they'd need to find just the right actor to deliver them. Now, we may have our answer, as artist Jackson Caspersz has imagined what it might look like if Fast & Furious 9's John Cena walked into a bar in Mute City and challenged Samurai Goroh to a race to the death.
The Witcher's first season overcame middling reviews to become an audience favorite, ending up as one of the most popular Netflix Originals ever. For many, it filled a Game of Thrones-shaped hole in their viewing schedules, with the combination of extreme violence, lots of sex and cool dragons pushing all the right buttons. Now, it seems Netflix's next big fantasy show Cursed might also prove to be a smash-hit.
Remember superhero movies? They were fun, weren't they? In a development that would have seemed unbelievable at the start of the year, we've seen a long drought of them in 2020, with just Birds of Prey and Bloodshot squeaking in before the COVID-19 lockdown hit. This has meant that 2020's superhero blockbusters like Black Widow and Wonder Woman 1984 have been kicked back to later in the year, leaving an almost superhero-free summer ahead of us.
There are some science fiction designs you mess with at your peril. Disney's Star Wars Sequel Trilogy left the X-Wings as they were in the Original Trilogy and the basic shape of the USS Enterprise has remained the same since the 1960s. Even Doctor Who, which effectively reboots itself every few years, keeps a few things the same. Notably, the now-anachronistic blue police box TARDIS. But it seems that the BBC are starting to fiddle with the other major iconic design: the Daleks.
It'd have been nice to see more of Kylo Ren's backstory in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, but Adam Driver assumes that Han and Leia weren't good parents.
Comedian and actor Chris D'Elia responds to an avalanche of claims of sexual misconduct and denies pursuing underage girls, saying he's been a "dumb guy."
