I'm a writer/editor who's been at the site since 2015. I cover politics, weird history, video games and... well, anything really. Keep it breezy, keep it light, keep it straightforward.
Fans were shocked when Ruby Rose announced her departure from Batwoman after the first season finale. From what we've heard from insiders though, her exit wasn't a big surprise within the show. Rose was reportedly unhappy with the unrelenting schedule of shooting network television and being stuck in Vancouver, and she felt the series was limiting her movie career.
Things aren't looking so hot for the Alien franchise right now. 2017's Alien: Covenant was met with tepid reviews, didn't meet box office expectations and seems to have effectively killed the series. After Covenant, Fox cooled on the idea of giving creative control to Ridley Scott to continue to explore the origins of the creature. Then came the Disney merger, meaning the House of Mouse now controls the Alien and Predator IPs.
Black Panther 2 is currently scheduled for release on May 6, 2022. By that time we should have a decent idea of how Marvel Studios are going to introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four to the MCU, perhaps even with their movies being officially announced. All of which makes sense that we're hearing that they're lining up a major X-Men character to cameo in the sequel, one with a subtle and interesting connection to Wakanda. I'm talking Wolverine, perhaps the character that people are most excited about to join the MCU.
It's odd that my most anticipated movie of 2021 is a reworking of a 2017 film I didn't enjoy, but such is the topsy-turvy world we live in. Despite the naysayers and pessimists, Zack Snyder has gotten the green light to finish the Snyder Cut of Justice League, which will premiere on HBO Max next year. The news immediately sparked speculation as to what will make it into the new cut, fueled by the fact that only about a quarter of Snyder's footage was seen in the theatrical cut.
The Guardians of the Galaxy movies are one of the MCU's most impressive achievements. Here were a group of characters that practically nobody had heard of in an extremely oddball adventure, which went on to become one of the studio's most beloved and lucrative hits. Guardians of the Galaxy proved that Marvel didn't need to rely on existing knowledge of their characters to make a smashing success, and the team went on to play a major part in Infinity War and Endgame.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was eagerly received by fans who'd been starved of a Star Wars single-player adventure for years. Sure, there was the campaign in Star Wars Battlefront II, but that was a basic shooter that lasted about four hours and ended on a never-to-be-resolved cliffhanger. Jedi: Fallen Order was the real deal, putting us in the shoes of fugitive Padawan Cal Kestis as he attempted to hide from the Empire in the wake of Order 66.
Earlier this week, we reported that Evan Peters, best known as Quicksilver in the X-Men movies, is rumored to be playing Mephisto in the MCU. It appeared that he was getting into that evil role very quickly, too, as fans were astonished to see him retweet a video celebrating cops chasing down a man and tackling him to the ground.
