Epic New Trailer For Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Debuts
2019 looks set to be the biggest years in the history of the Pokémon franchise. We've got Detective Pikachu hitting cinemas in less than a month, Pokémon Go still breaking records and the hugely anticipated next full instalment in the RPG series Pokémon Sword and Shield. But that's not all, because we're also getting a CG remake of Pokémon: The First Movie. First released in Japan in 1998, the move went on get a domestic theatrical release in November 1999 and proved to be a global box office hit. Now, 20 years on from its original release, directors Kunihiko Yuyama and Motonori Sakakibara are have reimagined the movie as Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution - and today brings our first proper look at it.

Former Doctor Who Star Slams Season 11 For Dropping Serial Format
One of the longest serving companions in Doctor Who history has hit out at the last season of the show. Frazer Hines, who played kilt-wearing, pipe-playing Scottish stereotype Jamie between 1966 and 1969 under the second Doctor Patrick Troughton, has given an interview with (ugh) Britain's The Sun newspaper in which he's slated the plots of Season 11. Detective Pikachu is quickly building up hype as its May 10th release gets ever closer. Once a bit of an eyebrow-raiser due to casting Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu and having a faintly surreal sounding plot, the film has tested so well that Legendary’s already developing spinoffs in this new cinematic universe. Hardcore fans have also been kept happy through a very smart marketing campaign that has gradually revealed the movie’s takes on their favorite Pokémon with fans of the TCG set to be offered limited edition cards if they see the film on opening weekend.

Here’s Why J.J. Abrams Almost Turned Down Directing Star Wars: Episode IX
Back when J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens hit cinemas, Disney spelt out their plans for their 'sequel trilogy'. Episodes VIII and IX were set to be directed by two well-regarded young directors who'd proved their worth in indie cinema. Rian Johnson had directed the excellent Brick and would go on to prove his blockbuster credentials with Looper, while Colin Trevorrow had directed oddball comedy Safety Not Guaranteed and megahit revival Jurassic World. It sounded like a pretty ironclad plan... and then Trevorrow decided to squeeze in a little passion project before entering pre-production on Episode IX. That was The Book of Henry, a film so incredibly terrible that it got Trevorrow unceremoniously and quickly fired.

New Report Reveals The Behind The Scenes Drama On Captain Marvel
Despite the legions of naysayers predicting that Captain Marvel would be a flop, it's gone on to be yet another billion-dollar success for Disney and Marvel Studios. A great deal of the film's marketing focused on it being the first female-fronted superhero effort in the MCU, and to bolster these feminist credentials, the studio seemed determined to make sure as much of the behind the scenes talent as possible were women. One key factor in this was the June 2018 announcement that Captain Marvel would be the first MCU film released with a score by a female composer, Pinar Toprak.
