HBO Picks Up Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen TV Show For Full Series
HBO's picked up Damon Lindelof's reworked take on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen for a full series, reports Deadline. This isn't exactly surprising, given the positive things said by HBO executive Casey Bloys last month on the pilot - "They did a great job. Damon wrote a phenomenal script, and Nikki Kassell did an amazing job shooting the show” - but it's still nice to get confirmation that we're actually going to watch the Watchmen.

Is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface Really A Woman?
Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remains a seriously disturbing horror classic. There is just something terrifying about the film's spooky, desperate nihilism and the way the villains pervert the traditional nuclear family. I still get a bit uncomfortable thinking about that incredibly screwed up dinner scene. Of course, the 'star' of the move is Leatherface, of lump-hammer bashing and chainsaw-wielding fame. The character is one of horror's enduringly iconic villains - but could we have been reading 'him' wrong all this time? Could 'he', in fact, be 'she'?

The first season of Star Trek: Discovery threw up quite a few unexpected surprises for fans - least of all the question of just what the hell was up with the look of the Klingons? After a very long time with The Next Generation's Klingons, which saw only a partial evolution when J.J. Abrams introduced to them to the films, Discovery threw us all for a loop with somewhat blue-skinned creatures with a curiously biomechanoid style of armor.

Disney Hit With Backlash For Casting Straight Actor In Gay Role In Jungle Cruise
Disney's somewhat unfortunately named Jungle Cruise has hit the rocks right out of the gate. The reason? Casting straight actor and comedian in a role described by The Sun as ‘hugely effete, very camp and very funny.’ Word is that this character is going to be Disney's first openly gay character, which is news to me as I distinctly remember them saying the exact same thing about LeFou in last year's live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

The John Wick franchise has become a byword for doing action right. Spearheaded by a great central performance from Keanu Reeves, the series dishes out a reliable stream of artfully directed and choreographed violence that takes place in an enjoyably surreal world that appears to be largely run by assassins. What might be the final chapter of the cinematic franchise (though it's coming to TV in The Continental), John Wick 3: Parabellum is currently shooting in New York and we've just gotten sight of a new photo reuniting Winston (Ian McShane) and the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne).

The Snyder Cut is superhero cinema's Loch Ness Monster. People claim to have seen it, others claim it's impossible for it to exist, and some say the truth one day might be revealed. Me? It Sounds Like The Simpsons Movie 2 Is Finally Happening
If The Simpsons were a pet dog, it would've been a kindness to lead it behind the barn and humanely blow its brains all over the wall years ago. Perhaps it's cliche to point out just how much the show has plummeted in quality over the last few decades, but comparing what they're doing now to their 90s golden age is almost painful. That's why I'm not exactly over the moon that it's sounding like 21st Century Fox is going to greenlight The Simpsons Movie 2.

Hulu Renews Castle Rock For A Second Season
It's turning into a bit of a golden age for Stephen King. IT cleaned up at the box office last year, with the sequel currently filming with an all-star cast. On top of that, there's an interesting sounding adaptation of Pet Sematary currently being shot and a fresh take on The Dark Tower in development. Given all these lucrative King-related projects, then, it's perhaps no surprise that Hulu has officially renewed psych-horror hit Castle Rock for a second season.

Avengers: Infinity War Director Explains Why War Machine Forgave Vision
I'd be pretty miffed if someone paralyzed me, even if that somebody was a superintelligent robot and I was flying through the air in a mechanical war suit. Rhodey's fall during the airport battle in Captain America: Civil War was the moment you knew things had gone too far, with Tony Stark's eminently sensible buddy smacking into the ground with a hideous thump. Fortunately, this being the MCU and his best friend being Tony Stark, he's already walking around on some shiny robot legs. But surely, when he ran into Vision in Avengers: Infinity War you'd have thought he'd have been more than a little cheesed off with Bettany's android...
