Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald has had a rocky ride to cinemas, at least from corners of the fan community. Given the Harry Potter franchise's vaguely inclusive liberal credentials (hey, at least it's anti-fascist) many were dismayed to see that the villainous Grindelwald would indeed be played by alleged wife-beater Johnny Depp. Though both creator J.K. Rowling and the studio  faced a barrage of criticism over Depp continuing in the role, they stuck to their guns and, at least for a while, things seemed to have calmed down.

The New Doctor Who Villain May Be A Character From The Past In Disguise
Those who saw Sunday's Doctor Who episode will probably be wondering when, not if, we're going to lay eyes on time-meddling teddy boy Krasko again. While the Doctor and her companions might have foiled his plan to prevent Rosa Parks from kicking off the Civil Rights Movement, being blasted into past with his own time displacement weapon will probably prove to be a setback rather than an end for him. After all, if you have a villain who wants to mess with the course of history, then the last place they should be is in the distant past.

Halloween Writer Thinks Phantasm Is Due For A Revival
Horror is making money hand over fist right now and you have to imagine that anyone with the rights to a beloved classic horror franchise might be looking at Danny McBride and David Gordon Green's soft reboot/continuation of Halloween with envious eyes. Well, in a Reddit AMA, McBridge was asked which franchise he'd like to see back on the big screen and he picked a stone cold cult classic: Phantasm.

Justice League Concept Art For A Young Darkseid Fleshes Out His Role
We've known for a while that Zack Snyder's original plan for his DCEU movies would have been a five-film arc beginning with Man of Steel that would have told a self-contained story. This would have theoretically begun with the aforementioned 2013 pic, then continued with Batman V Superman, Justice League, Justice League 2 and an unnamed finale. The driving force for these remaining films? The arrival of Darkseid on Earth and the League attempting to prevent him from turning the planet into another Apokalips (as glimpsed in the ‘Knightmare’ sequence).

Twilight Director Reveals That The Early Script Was Crazy Different
While it might not've been high cinema, the original Twilight translated Stephanie Meyer's hit book series to the screen in a way that made pretty much all of the many fans quite happy. But they could've come away from the movie feeling quite differently if MTV and Paramount had stuck with their original script treatment, which deviated from the source material in some pretty damn silly ways.

Grant Gustin And Stephen Amell Swap Costumes On The Set Of Arrowverse Crossover Elseworlds
Elseworlds was one of the cooler projects DC Comics did. The idea was to let their writers off the leash and imagine new and bizarre versions of their universe. As such, it gave us classic stories like Batman: Red Rain, Kingdom Come and Superman: Red Son, before being left dormant in 2003 (there was a brief resurrection in 2010, but that only saw one title released under the imprint). It seems that the Arrowverse producers haven't forgotten about it, though, as it's now being used for what's described as their biggest crossover event yet.

Warner Bros. Reportedly Working On Two Open World DC Universe Games
Things have been suspiciously quiet since Rocksteady's last entry in the Arkham franchise, Batman: Arkham VR landed in 2016. Since then, fans of the games have been speculating on what Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady are cooking up next, with the most common theory being that they're planning on doing for Superman what they did for Batman and finally make an unambiguously great game about the character. It was widely assumed this would be unveiled at E3, but that came and went without a peep from the publisher.

Willem Dafoe Rides An Armored Battle Shark In New Aquaman Photo
Though my excitement levels for James Wan's Aquaman were pretty low after that underwhelming first trailer, they perked up a bit after the recent extended promo (which reminded me of Steven Spielberg's Tintin) and I might be inching into hyped now that I've seen a picture of everyone's favorite innately sinister character actor Willem Dafoe sitting atop an armored Hammerhead Shark. As a man who likes both Dafoe and marine biology, it feels squarely targeted right at me.
