If anything, today if proving to be a memorable day for the newly launched DC Universe streaming service. Not only has Titans finally premiered (you can read our review for that show here), but some huge casting news for the highly anticipated Harley Quinn animated series can also be talked about.
Earlier this week, The Flash made its triumphant return with what no doubt had to be its finest season premiere in years. Don't forget, not only did I give it five stars in my review, but a fair amount of fans also expressed similar sentiment with numerous glowing social media posts.
By now, I think it's safe to say that Stephen Amell is considered to be the unofficial ambassador of the Arrowverse. I mean, not only does he get to make a fair amount of cool announcements, but he's also confounding us all with cryptic social media posts on a regular basis, each of which assure we're kept on the edges of our seats.
Usually, when actors are promoted to the prestigious position of series regular, the news arrives late in the spring or sometime during the summer. But in this case, we're getting confirmation just days before Arrow returns with its highly anticipated season premiere.
If you're familiar with comic books, then you know whenever you see that "Elseworlds" stamp on the front of a DC title, anything is possible. I mean, the name alone tells you established continuity has been thrown out the window and, say, baby Kal-El's rocket from Krypton may have landed somewhere in Russia rather than Kansas.
Though Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin have each had the privilege of playing Superman in various forms since Christopher Reeve relinquished the mantle, the late actor remains the favorite to have embodied Big Blue by many.
After not realizing what they had in Supergirl by letting it go after only one season, it looks like CBS is willing to take another shot at this whole DC thing by adapting the cult favorite Secret Six for television.
While this writer will be the first admit how he'll be attending a showing of Birds of Prey on opening weekend, I'm kind of bummed by Catwoman's absence. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of how she doesn't necessarily have to be involved in a film uniting that specific team of female superheroes - but then again, neither does Harley Quinn.
It may have certainly taken its sweet time, but I think some of you reading this will agree with me in saying that Legends of Tomorrow really found its footing with its third season. Really, it was last year that everything just clicked for the cast and crew, as the right balance was achieved between adventure and comedy - at least for this particular series. Please don't have Beebo show up on Arrow, Greg Berlanti.
This week, The CW finally kicked off its "Super Season" with premieres for both The Flash and Black Lightning. Had you also tuned in, then you're already aware of how each are off to phenomenal starts. In fact, I even had the privilege of screening the former in advance of its air date, giving it five stars.
