Though we may still be waiting for Kevin Smith to further extend his tendrils out into the Arrowverse, one has to admit that he's directed some mighty fine episodes of both The Flash and Supergirl to date. Of those, it's become apparent that he likes to focus on character and emotion, but he's still left room for some epic science fiction sequences.
If you’ve been keeping up with the current season of Arrow, then you may make the argument that it feels like a true ensemble show now more than ever. In fact, the title card at the top of each episode these days also showcases logos for the likes of Black Canary, Spartan, Wild Dog and others.
Over the years, Scooby-Doo and the gang have taken part in some memorable team-ups. Believe it or not, those meddling kids can lay claim to having met the likes of Batman and Robin, the Three Stooges, the Harlem Globetrotters and even the cast of Gilligan’s Island. In fact, DC even published an ongoing comic titled Scooby-Doo Team-up in recent years.
If anything is to be said about the original Alien flick, it's that not only was it a crowning achievement in cinema for its era, but it also went on to spawn one of the greatest film franchises of all-time. Really, this series fearlessly blurred the lines separating the horror and science fiction genres, with its influence being felt on countless movies and video games to this day. And if you don't believe me regarding the latter, go back and play some of the classic Resident Evil titles, for many paid tribute to various scenes witnessed in Alien pictures.
When a show such as Supernatural endures for as many as thirteen seasons, it's only natural that those in front of and behind the camera find new ways of playing with their toys, so to speak, in order to keep things fresh. As such, we've not only seen characters such as Sam and Dean Winchester, Castiel, Crowley and Lucifer evolve over the years, but portrayed in a variety of ways as well.
To say that the past few months have been a strange journey for fans of Gotham would be a huge understatement. Despite constant reassurance saying that Jerome Valeska won't end up as this series' version of the Joker, our suspicion that he will is seemingly fueled with each passing week.
It’s not often that you can remember what you were doing a decade ago, but in this case, I can. Ten years ago at this time, I was vehemently following the production of Justice League Mortal, looking for any news I could find online pertaining to it. After all, this was set to be the first live action meet up of DC’s premier superheroes on the big screen.
If you're a fan of the classic graphic novel Batman: The Long Halloween, then it looks like you may really dig what Gotham has in store for us for the remainder of season 4. In other words, if you're one for supervillain team-ups, there'll be a lot to love over the next few months.
Although everyone is buzzing about Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War – and understandably so – it’s important that we not forget about Marvel Studios’ third cinematic offering in 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp. And now that its theatrical release is relatively within reaching distance, we can expect more goodies regarding Scott Lang’s next adventure to surface on a regular basis.
Despite leaving myself open to verbal thrashings from friends and readers online alike, I've been honest in admitting that Venom is one of the comic book movies I'm looking forward to most in 2018. After missing the mark with the iconic character in 2007's Spider-Man 3, surely Sony would have to do a better job with a solo outing, right?
