Having blown away audiences with her big screen debut in Logan, it comes as no surprise that Marvel would want to feature X-23 in the comics more heavily going forward. So, until Dafne Keen is able to reprise her role, we'll settle for whatever literary adventures we can get our hands on - especially ones as crazy (in a good way) as Edge of Venomverse #1.
Earlier today, we brought you a detailed look at Dark Days: The Forge #1, the first of two one-shots on the road to Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's much publicized reunion that'll arrive later this summer in the form of Dark Nights: Metal. Well, thanks to DC, we're now able to follow up on that in very short order with a first look at Dark Days: The Casting #1.
By now, you're no doubt aware of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's much publicized reunion that's set to commence later this summer in the form of Dark Nights: Metal. But before we're able to get there, we have a couple of stops to make with some prelude one-shots, the first of which is that of Dark Days: The Forge #1.
While it may not be quite the pop culture phenomenon that other franchises like, say, Halloween or A Nightmare on Elm Street have been, the fact remains that the Amityville series is one of the most sequel-ized in the horror genre. Seriously, it puts even Leprechaun to shame - by far - when it comes to the sheer amount of followups barely anyone knew even existed.
Although Bruce Wayne has yet to fully mature, Gotham has wasted no time when it comes to utilizing the greatest villains the Batman mythos has to offer. Having already been introduced to the likes of Riddler, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and a series stealing proto-Joker, it shouldn't come as any surprise that the Demon's Head join the party.
It's probably safe to say that superhero fans are breathing a sigh of relief knowing how much positive buzz is surrounding Wonder Woman at the moment (you can read our review here). Aside from being one of the most critically acclaimed comic book movies ever, it also had a strong Thursday night gross, so we'll keep our fingers crossed hoping for an impressive opening weekend total.
As of late, something that Marvel has especially excelled at has been that of making sure their properties enjoying small screen popularity have been getting the proper push in the comic book realm. With Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders each having new titles launching, it comes as no surprise that Runaways is poised to get similar treatment knowing that its Hulu series is on the way.
Although he wasn't part of the principal cast during the show's inaugural season, it's undeniable that Skeet Ulrich's FP Jones was probably one of the most important guest characters to have appeared on Riverdale. While simultaneously giving his onscreen son, Jughead, a bit more pathos, this major player from the Southside Serpents also served as a red herring in the mystery surrounding Jason Blossom's murder.
Although we may not always be happy when personnel changes are made to the creative teams working on comic books because we often look forward to seeing the writer or artist originally solicited, there are instances when we can't help but get excited when a change brings aboard an incredible talent. Such is the case with Suicide Squad #20.
You know, it seems like it's only a matter of time before a Warner Bros. property gets the LEGO treatment these days - especially if it's something related to DC Comics. Still, I can't say I'm somewhat surprised to see the DC Super Hero Girls franchise receive such an adaptation due to it having been around for only a few years, but this will do nothing but help the brand reach a broader audience.
