Seeing as how DC had amazed us with its recent Injustice 2 prequel comic, it pleases us to learn that Marvel is also dipping its toe into the video game tie-in pool. Okay, they aren't doing a full-blown tie-in series of their own - something we're hoping they consider for the future - but their announcing a generous helping of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite variant covers is most definitely a step in the right direction.
Now that the star-studded season finale of Arrow is less than a week away, we can't help but recall the journey that got us here. And no, we're not just talking about what's been one of the strongest seasons the series has delivered to date, but rather, all that went down on social media.
Following in the footsteps of Secret Wars and Civil War II, Secret Empire becomes the third consecutive Marvel event series to add an extra issue, which, let's be honest, we all probably saw coming. I mean, the entire season had been building to this and Team Flash did all they could to avert it, but did any of us really think the producers would actually pull the trigger? Don't raise your hands all at once.
Although DC's Legends of Tomorrow certainly won over many viewers with its first season, it could be argued that it really started to live up to its potential in the second. Sure, Vandal Savage certainly made for a formidable adversary and it was cool to see the time traveling series utilize beloved characters such as Jonah Hex, but seeing as how this is a team-up show, it only made sense that a cadre of villains unite to confound the Waverider crew.
It's probably safe to say that expectations for Wonder Woman are high when it comes to fans, critics and industry pundits alike, no doubt due to the fact that the Amazon Princess is finally making her solo debut on the big screen after having enjoyed a publication history spanning three quarters of a century.
Now that the highly anticipated video game Injustice 2 has arrived in stores, it's important that we not forget the prequel comic that recently kicked off as things have really been heating up over there. And although NetherRealm Studios certainly deserves a pat on the back for creating this darker version of the DC Universe, much of the credit can go to comic book writer Tom Taylor, who continues to prove that few others have such a knack for writing tales of alternate realities.
