Over the course of its illustrious history, Arrow has accomplished much more than your average TV show. In addition to being the first live action series headlined by the Emerald Archer, it brought us exciting new interpretations of Black Canary, Deathstroke, Ra's al Ghul, Arsenal and countless others. Not only that, but it spawned an entire universe of DC-themed shows existing within the same continuity, which has been appropriately dubbed "the Arrowverse."
As per usual, the talented folks behind DC's animated movies didn't disappoint when announcing the following year's slate at San Diego Comic-Con. In case you hadn't heard, 2020 will play host to the long-awaited Superman: Red Son adaptation and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.
In the midst of all the movie, TV and comic book announcements and trailers dropping at San Diego Comic-Con, one aspect which I consistently look forward to most is that of the following year's slate of DC animated films being revealed. If you're like me, then you anticipate these babies just as much as any live action offering, as Warner Bros. Animation has a pretty good track record in this department.
If we were to flash forward one year from now, we'd be looking at a much different landscape for the Arrowverse. In addition to numerous seismic shifts to be caused be the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event, Arrow itself will have concluded following eight thrilling seasons.
Considering how Titans has dealt with Dick Grayon's internal conflict as he moves past the Robin persona head-on, including Batman in the show was pretty much unavoidable. For the most part, he'd been shown in silhouette as Bruce Wayne, or as a fully-berserk murderer in a fantasy world created by Trigon during the first season's unforgettable finale.
Whenever any TV series endures for an extended period of time, it's only expected that not every member of the cast stick it out until the end. Case in point: only Tom Welling and Allison Mack appeared in all ten seasons of Smallville, with most of their colleagues moving on to other projects before the journey to becoming Superman reached its conclusion.
Just when we thought the costume originally introduced during Arrow's fifth season would hang around for yet another year - bam! - Entertainment Weekly arrives just in time to confirm that, yes, Oliver Queen will don one more custom made leather suit before calling it quits.
When The CW first announced that "Crisis on Infinite Earths" would be the title of the next major Arrowverse crossover, those familiar with the comic book of the same name knew we'd be in for a treat. But now that everything's actually coming together, we're finding out just how cool this prime time adaptation will be.
You know, if we didn't have The Flash TV show to occupy our time, the wait for a movie would be doubly maddening. After already losing several directors and writers, fans were recently given a glimmer of hope when IT and IT: Chapter Two director Andy Muschietti was said to be attached to the project. After having made a ton of money for Warner Bros. with 2017's big screen Stephen King adaptation, you'd better believe he's got some serious credibility at the studio.
