Though The Batman is arguably the most anticipated DC movie currently lacking a release date, we haven't had much concrete news to report. For now, it appears that director Matt Reeves will recast the title role, and the Penguin may feature prominently because he's the villain rumored most often. But again, we've been given no official word from Warner Bros.
If you're an avid reader of comics like me, then you may have been disappointed by Darkseid's exclusion from the Justice League movie. Yes, I know Zack Snyder's original plan was for Steppenwolf to pave the way for the true Lord of Apokolips, but massive reshoots done by the studio retooled the story so that he became a standalone villain. And though I understand that from a filmmaking perspective, I'm frustrated by the reality of not seeing a followup featuring Darkseid himself.
Ever since the trailer for Titans' season finale hit the web late last week, it's deservedly been the talk of the town. After all, who wouldn't go bananas after seeing Batman finally losing it and kicking the crap out of anything in his path? No matter if you reacted positively or negatively, it got your attention.
With the premiere episode of Gotham‘s fifth and final season now being just under two weeks away, Fox sure is kicking the hype machine into high gear. In recent memory, they’ve treated us to some cool character portraits, synopses for the first three installments, and even a full gallery of photos taken from “Year Zero” itself.
Now that Titans' season finale has officially dropped, it's fair to assume that most folks will be left reeling after seeing Dick Grayson butting heads with Batman. The showdown may have turned out to take place in a fantasy world created by Trigon, sure, but the mere fact that anything like this is happening in live action is downright awesome.
I don't know about you, but one thing I've loved about Young Justice and its time jumps between seasons is how it's allowed for the heroes to grow - and to introduce others. To cite one example, Dick Grayson started out as Robin, then became Nightwing during the show's sophomore year. Subsequently, that allowed for the producers to bring in a successor to the Robin mantle, Tim Drake, and it's looking like Damian Wayne will soon carry the torch in season 3.
With Titans' first season finale being set to debut tomorrow (and hopefully it'll wind up being a two-parter because the original word said we were in for 12 episodes total), it's certainly not a bad time to begin looking forward to the show's sophomore year.
With the Kate Kane version of Batwoman having been around for more than a decade now, one could certainly say she's due for some mainstream exposure outside of comic books. In fact, she made her way over to animation in 2016's Batman: Bad Blood and, more recently, made her live action debut during the Arrowverse's "Elseworlds" crossover.
Even though Thanos is actually dead in the comic book world and someone may soon take his place, he currently remains as the big bad in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, we'll spend the next few months pondering how Earth's Mightiest Heroes will defeat him in Avengers: Endgame.
