As thrilling and intriguing as the current season of Arrow has proven to be, I must admit I really miss seeing the Emerald Archer and his cohorts fighting alongside each other on the streets of Star City - and in costume, to be more specific. And though we may be taking baby steps getting there, it looks as though a major stride may be witnessed during next week's episode.
A common criticism lobbed at Supergirl is that it borrows too much from stories pertaining to Superman, a point that I won’t argue. Despite that, I’ve been quite happy to see villains such as Livewire and Parasite brought to life in ways that shows such as Superboy, Lois & Clark and even Smallville simply didn’t have the budget to achieve, or in a film franchise that just can’t seem to get past Lex Luthor and Zod. It’s because of this that I’ve said Supergirl has often felt like a live action answer to Superman: The Animated Series.
Each season, The Flash confounds us all with a variety of intriguing mysteries, usually ones involving whomever may be the big bad. Suffice it to say, I haven't forgotten when we were pondering the true identities of the Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Alchemy and Savitar, some of whom turned out to be the very men known to comic book readers - but with a bit of a twist.
Earlier today, we reported on a brief trailer pertaining to Gotham season 5 that'd been circulating. Basically, it teased the next significant preview to come, with the last substantial one being screened at New York Comic Con back in October. And though what arrived tonight wasn't nearly as long, it may have actually given us more to go on.
If you have so much as one friend of the geek persuasion added on social media or follow any sort of entertainment outlet, then odds are you've already learned of Stan Lee's unfortunate passing. In the past 24 hours alone, the internet has been flooded with countless tributes in honor of the late legend, with celebrities and fans alike expressing their condolences.
Over the past few years, Fathom Events have brought DC animated movies to theaters so that fans may experience them in a way other than just viewing them on home video. Sure, the engagements may be limited, but there's a certain thrill accompanying seeing a film in a room packed with like-minded individuals.
It may feel like an eternity getting there, but we can take solace in knowing that Gotham will commence its fifth and final season in just under two months. Yes, it does suck that the Batman prequel series didn't kickoff in the fall as it usually would've, though you have to admit a 12-episode affair dropping in the winter is preferable to receiving absolutely nothing.
When a TV series such as Titans features Dick Grayson in his Robin persona in the lead role – not to mention guest appearances made by his successor, Jason Todd – it’s virtually impossible to get around the subject of Batman. But when the Dark Knight is tied up in movies and in the process of going through the motions of his own respective origin over on Gotham, well, there’s bound to be some red tape preventing a proper cameo.
In my view, Arrow's seventh season aired its best and most exciting episode yet earlier this evening. I mean, not only was it intriguing and delivered some cool fight scenes, but this installment revealed the mysterious "Demon" to be Talia al Ghul in very short order.
