New Gotham Season 5 Promo Teases Bane And Jeremiah Valeska

It may feel like an eternity getting there, but we can take solace in knowing that Gotham will commence its fifth and final season in just under two months. Yes, it does suck that the Batman prequel series didn't kickoff in the fall as it usually would've, though you have to admit a 12-episode affair dropping in the winter is preferable to receiving absolutely nothing.

It may feel like an eternity getting there, but we can take solace in knowing that Gotham will commence its fifth and final season in just under two months. Yes, it does suck that the Batman prequel series didn’t kickoff in the fall as it usually would’ve, though you have to admit a 12-episode affair dropping in the winter is preferable to receiving absolutely nothing.

Fortunately, we’ve had a whole heap of goodies to tide us over and then some, given how most of the season has already been filmed. In addition to seeing photos showing off Jeremiah Valeska’s new look and Shane West’s debut as Bane, there was that badass trailer released at New York Comic Con back in October.

Obviously, the network won’t be resting on their laurels, as we expect for them to drop another full trailer before January, and we may receive just that during tonight’s episode of The Gifted – a Marvel show, of all things – but they are two superhero shows airing on the same channel.

Though not the highest of resolution, a video circulating of late came to our attention, and can be viewed at the top of this article. As you may have figured, it implores us to check out the next installment of the X-Men spinoff of sorts so that we may see the future awaiting Bruce Wayne, Jim Gordon and other favorites.

To the surprise of none, Jeremiah can be glimpsed near the end, though it’s very possible the laugh heard was taken from previous footage featuring his twin brother, Jerome. Even if that’s the case, it’s looking more and more like he’s evolving into the Joker we’d expect – or something damn near close.

As for Bane, he’s there in a “blink and you’ll miss him” sort of way, but at least he’s not forgotten. If it weren’t for filming being so far in advance of airing, I’d have thought it best for his reveal to be a surprise, though you have to concede with set photos leaking so often these days that it was probably best for the producers to release official images of their own to balance it all out.

Gotham returns for its fifth season on Thursday, January 3rd on Fox.
