I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
Peter Berg's Battleship is a sinking disaster that rarely stays afloat, but Universal's Blu-Ray disc is a finely tuned presentation that will put your HDTV and surround sound to the test.
The Lucky One isn't the best Nicholas Sparks adaptation, but it's not the worst. It makes for yet another harmless romance that excels because of the chemistry between its two leads. The Blu-Ray is another fairly typical Warner Bros. release, which means it features strong video and audio, but weak bonus content.
William Kaufman's One in the Chamber is exactly what you'd expect for a straight-to-home video release from Anchor Bay. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Dolph Lundgren make the best of their roles, but the lacking audio track and little bonus features make this a disc to skip.
Adam Sandler hasn't been known for making the highest quality films as of late, but he's always had an audience that shows up for his crumby pictures. With That's My Boy though, that wasn't the case. The R-rated comedy tanked at the box office and proved that even Sandler is breakable. The film is a complete waste of time and a slap in the face to anyone that considers themselves fans of the comedy genre.
Oren Peli is responsible for the Paranormal Activity films, so naturally most were excited when they heard he had a hand in a film that involves tourists traveling into the radioactive wasteland known as Chernobyl. The problem with that is that the film Chernobyl Diaries is a far cry from anything slightly watchable. There's an establishing tone that originally comes across as brooding, but eventually shit hits the fan in a hurry.
James Cameron's Avatar is without a doubt the sole reason that 3D films have been clogging up most of the market. I'm not positive if that's a good thing or not just yet, but we can't deny the impact that Avatar (in 3D) has had on the filmmaking world as of late. One thing that most 3D adopters noticed was the lack of Avatar on 3D Blu-Ray.
Universal Studios has announced the Blu-Ray release of Focus Features' Moonrise Kingdom for October. Directed by Wes Anderson and starring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, this film received much critical acclaim when it opened in theatres.
Steven Spielberg's Jaws takes a bite out of the Blu-Ray format with a remastered video transfer, an absorbent 7.1 audio track and a whole bunch of bonus content that makes this a worthy purchase for longtime fans and those looking for a classic.
If it's not a roster reveal or confirmation of a downloadable superstar then it must be something else important, because THQ seems to be rolling out exciting news left and right for their upcoming wrestling title WWE '13. I literally just ran over the official roster the other day, which is loaded with past and present superstars and now I have another video to share with you that details the Attitude Era mode.
THQ's WWE '13 is due out in stores later this fall and after revealing new characters, downloadable content and a special Collector's Edition packaging, we've finally been given the entire roster list for the massive game, which features current superstars, divas and superstars from the Attitude Era. It's an impressive list of names that only makes the wait seem that much longer.
