The new miniseries version of Stephen King's The Stand is starting to shape up with major cast announcements emerging for the series, which is likely to premiere in 2020. The recent CBS Television Critics Association presentation included a lot of new casting information about the production, as well as the close involvement of Stephen King in the finale. There may not be any major surprises in the cast, but to us it seems like a solid enough choice for the CBS All Access series.
We're only a month or so away from the release of It: Chapter Two, which based on the buzz around the recent trailer and San Diego Comic-Con interviews, is going to be an epic conclusion to the Stephen King adaptation. Now, Warner Bros. have further stoked anticipation today by releasing a new featurette, titled "Come Home," that combines fresh footage with behind-the-scenes commentary.
John Barrowman has certainly been busy this week, hinting at a Doctor Who movie that his former castmates are baffled about, and generally throwing caution to the wind when it comes to discussing the show. Barrowman has now expanded on why the immortal Captain Jack Harkness chose not to assassinate Adolf Hitler when fighting in the Second World War, and it all has to do with the logistics of time travel.
If it wasn't enough that the theatrical release of It: Chapter Two clocks in at 2 hours and 45 minutes, it's now been revealed that an even longer director's cut is in the works. Producer Barbara Muschietti has announced that, in contrast to the first part of It, they have enough high quality content to justify an extended version of the movie. The news came after director Andy Muschietti described the difficulty of squeezing Stephen King's epic novel into a two-part film.
The final scenes of Supergirl season four set up the presence of the global network Leviathan in the Arrowverse, which will now be a key part of the fifth year of the show. Leviathan have been a presence in DC Comics for several years, and are the focus of a major event this summer by the publisher. However, Supergirl's producers have now explained that they won't be emulating the plot-lines from the comics series.
We're pretty excited for the launch of Batwoman, which despite attracting some predictable criticism, scored plenty of positive points during last week's San Diego Comic-Con. As well as learning about the addition of a Batman villain to the first season, we also had glimpses into the effect of Ruby Rose's Kate Kane on Gotham City, as well as more extended discussions of how important Kane's sexuality will actually be to the character. And now, we've been given a closer look at Alice, season 1's big bad.
Coming soon after reports that Paramount are still interested in a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, it now seems we may see a Netflix live-action show. Franchise co-creator Kevin Eastman discussed all things TMNT at last weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, and gave us some hints about plans for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property. Eastman suggested that a harder-edged version of the Turtles, echoing the comic roots of the characters, could be a good fit for Netflix.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has previously gone on record that Deadpool 3 will be happening, contrary to rumors that the Merc with a Mouth could on his way out after the Disney and Fox shake-up. Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend though, Liefeld was pretty clear about why the third movie in the series is on its way, even if we haven't had a firm commitment from Marvel or Disney about when that film will arrive.
One of the more surprising announcements from the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con was that Natalie Portman will be taking over Mjolnir-wielding duties in Thor: Love and Thunder. The news that Portman's Jane Foster will be playing Thor hasn't pleased everyone, but it has raised some fascinating questions about the female-led future of the MCU.
Hot on the heels of news that Bloodwork will be the major villain of season six of The Flash, we now have some set photos of the character. The recently released trailer from San Diego Comic-Con, which you can see above, showcases Bloodwork as this season's big bad, with Sendhil Ramamurthy in the role. New set photos have emerged via Twitter and Hollywood North of Ramamurthy as Dr. Ramsey Rosso, which shows him at a cemetery in what seems to be the same introductory scene from the trailer. Going on the age on the tombstone, photos appear to reveal that Rosso is attending the funeral of his mother Rachel, with Caitlin Snow as one of the guests.
