One of the more interesting new features Super Smash Bros. for Wii U introduced was the ability to double the amount of playable characters in a match, with the option to go from the standard 4-player limit all the way up to 8 players at once. The downside was that certain levels could not be selected when playing with 5 or more players, likely due to their layout not offering the necessary space for every character.

Though Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call launched for the 3DS in North America last September, Square Enix has continued to periodically support the rhythm-based spinoff by releasing additional songs as downloadable add-ons. The latest batch of tracks arriving in Japan this week, and presumably in North America soon after, are a bit of a departure, though, as only one of the 6 songs comes from a Final Fantasy game. The others come from Square Enix's own Romancing SaGa 3, the DS cult hit The World Ends With You, and the classic Super Nintendo game Chrono Trigger.

That status has been shaken up recently, though, thanks to the surprise release of three new downloadable tracks for Rock Band 3 last week.

During today's Nintendo Direct stream, a new spinoff in the long-running Pokemon series was announced. Titled Pokemon Shuffle, the game will be a download-only 3DS game. The core gameplay looks to be along the lines of such puzzlers as Bejeweled and Candy Crush Saga, with players aiming to match three of the same Pokemon via touch controls.
Since its initial reveal at E3 2013, additional news and information on Kingdom Hearts III has been very scarce, other than periodic confirmations from the developers at Square Enix saying development was proceeding smoothly. While fans have had the recent PS3 re-releases of past titles to tide them over, those eager to find out more about the long-awaited threequel have had to be patient.
