While Star Wars: The Force Awakens got a lot right, it was far from a perfect film. Among other things, one of the biggest complaints lodged against it was that it borrowed far too much thematically from previous entries in the saga, most notably A New Hope. We loved what J.J. Abrams did just as much as the next fan, but we can't deny that it did feel a bit similar to what we'd already seen from the franchise. And though that in no way ruined the viewing experience, it's still nice to hear that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is going to be very different.
With a whopping five post-credit scenes, it's clear that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has a lot of surprises in store for us. However, one of the biggest mysteries right now is who former Smallville star (and longtime friend of James Gunn) Michael Rosenbaum could be playing in the sequel.
Outside of the DC Extended Universe, Henry Cavill has found mixed success. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. did fairly well (and a sequel is in fact on the way), but you'd think that the actor would have made a larger impact by now. Perhaps he just needs a few more big roles under his belt, though? Thankfully, he'll be getting just that with, among other things, Mission: Impossible 6.
It's always interesting to wonder which movies stand a chance of making $1 billion at the box office when looking ahead at the year, but it's fair to say that Despicable Me 3 is right up there with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Star Wars: The Last Jedi as being among those to be almost guaranteed to hit that benchmark.
Despite the fact that viewership has dipped in recent years, The Walking Dead remains the highest-rated series on television. That means it's going to be around for a long, long time and as we already know, an eighth season is on the way. That's a number very few shows reach, and when they do, most have run out of steam long before.
Marvel and Netflix delivered another huge hit when they launched Luke Cage last year, and while a second season was confirmed shortly after it arrived on the streaming service, we still have no idea when that will be released or even when it's set to begin production.
Though things got off to a shaky start over in the DC Extended Universe, Warner Bros. is now doing their best to turn the ship around. While the verdict is still out on both Wonder Woman and Justice League, one thing that we're certainly excited about is the studio's plans for both Batman and the Bat Family. Of course, the Caped Crusader will be getting his own solo film at some point in 2018, but there's also a standalone outing planned for both Nightwing and Batgirl as well.
A handful of lucky journalists were recently treated to a tour around the Marvel offices, and while there, they got to see a lot of cool content from Phase 3. Though the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and Thor: Ragnarok may be grabbing people's attention at the moment, another sequel on the way which shouldn't be forgotten is Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and The Wasp.
After an extensive search that involved many Hollywood heavy hitters, Deadpool 2 finally found its Cable in the form of Avengers: Infinity War star Josh Brolin. However, with the film still not even in front of cameras yet, it's going to be a very long time before we get any sort of official reveal of the actor suited up as the fan-favourite mutant, but in the meantime, there's been plenty of awesome fan-art doing the rounds.
When a handful of journalists were recently treated to a tour around the Marvel offices this week, a variety of props and artwork were put on display for them. Among what those lucky few got to see was a fresh piece of concept art from Thor: Ragnarok, and we now have it for you down below in all its glory.
