The second half of The Flash's third season has revolved around Barry Allen's attempts to save Iris West from Savitar's wrath a few months into the future, but the Scarlet Speedster is going to have even more problems to deal with before then as it's been revealed that a variety of familiar (villainous) faces will be returning soon.
When you walk into a Marvel movie, you know you're going to get a few things: epic action, laugh out loud interactions between your favorite characters, numerous easter eggs and, of course, the always reliable Stan Lee cameo. Yes, the comic book legend has appeared in nearly every effort from the studio to date - on both the big and small screen - and that trend looks set to continue well into the future.
It's more than a bit surprising that The Punisher has had so much trouble finding success in live-action. That is, until, Jon Bernthal took on the role. Frank Castle is a great character and for years, fans had been hoping to see him brought to life in a satisfying manner. And while we may still be waiting for that feature film starring the former Walking Dead star to hit theatres, we at least get to see him on the small screen, kicking ass and taking names over on Netflix.
To say that there's a lot riding on Wonder Woman would be a massive understatement. Not only does it have the pressure that comes along with being a female-led superhero film, but it's also the first chance for Warner Bros. to turn the DC Extended Universe around after both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad failed to impress (with critics, at least). Right now, it's hard to say how the Gal Gadot-led flick will turn out, as we've heard early buzz of both the negative and positive variety, but we will admit that everything that's been shown off so far from the tentpole certainly looks quite promising.
Seems like writer Will Beall enjoys a good romp underwater, as Deadline is reporting tonight that after penning Aquaman for James Wan and Warner Bros., the scribe will head over to Universal to put together the script for Creature from the Black Lagoon, a remake of the 1954 classic which will also slot into the studio's budding Monsters Universe. Of course, that's all set to kick off with The Mummy this summer and Black Lagoon looks to be another exciting piece of the puzzle.
If you're at all familiar with Marvel comics, you'll be well aware that Peter Parker's Aunt May has typically been portrayed as a frail old woman. The Amazing Spider-Man franchise introduced a somewhat more sprightly version of the character, but Spider-Man: Homecoming having Marisa Tomei in the role changes the dynamic of the relationship between her and Peter in a big way.
Wonder Woman is going to be a big test not only for Warner Bros.' DC Extended Universe, but superhero movies in general. While both Captain Marvel and a Joss Whedon-helmed Batgirl film may be in the works, this will be the first female-led mainstream comic book adaptation in quite some time, so you'd best believe that a lot of studios will have their eye on those all-important box office receipts.
Previous Spider-Man movies have spent only a small amount of time in high school, with both first instalments of the previous franchises quickly giving way to the hero moving on to college either in the initial film or the sequel. That can be blamed on the ages of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but with Tom Holland playing Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have the opportunity to keep the hero in the high school setting for quite a bit longer.
One of the coolest moments in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story came when we paid a visit to Darth Vader's home on Mustafar. The fact that the Sith Lord would live on the planet he suffered his greatest defeat opened the door to a lot of interesting storytelling possibilities, something hinted at in recent reports claiming that Kylo Ren will be paying a visit to his grandfather's castle in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
