Marvel has found great success with their Star Wars comics over the past couple of years, with various characters from the mythos receiving their own titles to fill in the gaps in their respective histories which are now the official canon since Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm and the removal of the Expanded Universe.
At the end of this week's episode of The Flash, Jesse Quick made a surprise appearance to ask Kid-Flash for help due to the fact that Gorilla Grodd had kidnapped her father - Earth-2's Harrison Wells - and taken him back to Gorilla City. We can't say for sure yet how that will play out, but based on the images in the gallery above, the rescue mission doesn't exactly go as planned.
Thor has been unable to wield Mjolnir ever since the events of Original Sin, and with Jane Foster filling in for him as the new God of Thunder, the Odinson has been on the hunt for a new hammer ever since Secret Wars wrapped up. Well, in today's issue of The Unworthy Thor #4, he finally got his hands back on the magical weapon.
Last weekend the Super Bowl brought with it a ton of exciting trailers for some of 2017's biggest films. We got previews for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Transformers: The Last Knight and many, many more. However, absent from the party was Zack Snyder's Justice League.
With the release of each Marvel movie, Iron Man has upgraded his armour. There's precedent for that in the comic books, but it's also a clever marketing ploy by Disney to sell more toys! Regardless, despite the fact that the hero was seen in a familiar outfit in the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer, Marvel Legends action figures reveal yet another new look for Tony Stark.
Gorilla Grodd has always been one of the most enjoyable recurring villains in The Flash, and as the show's budget has increased, so too has the amount of screen time that the CGI bad guy receives. When the series returns in a fortnight from now, the character will be taking centre stage in a two-part event that The CW's billing as "Gorilla City."
Regardless of whether you loved or loathed Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, there's no denying that some of the movie's most enjoyable moments came from when iconic heroes like the Dark Knight, the Man of Steel and Wonder Woman all interacted on the big screen for the first time. Justice League adds the likes of Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash into the mix, and that promises to be an awful lot of fun for fans of these iconic superheroes.
In some not so surprising news, Paramount recently moved World War Z 2 off their 2017 release schedule. We say it isn't surprising because the sequel still doesn't even have a director at the helm. Last we heard, David Fincher was in the mix to step in and replace J.A. Bayona behind the camera, which would signal a reunion with lead star Brad Pitt, but as of yet, there’s still been no concrete development on that front.
We recently learned when the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to debut, and while that's definitely exciting, Disney head honcho Bob Iger has fuelled the hype train even more by revealing that he's already seen an early cut of the movie. Talk about the perks of the job, eh? As expected, he had nothing but good things to say about the Rian Johnson-helmed release, though he obviously wouldn't reveal too much.
If you recall, in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, we got to see the mortally wounded Victor Stone transformed by his father when he unleashed the powers of a mysterious artefact which gave his son a powerful new body. At the time, fans wondered if that might have been a Mother Box. It seemed to be a pretty likely theory and now, it's been confirmed in the pages of Total Film Magazine.
