Following Supergirl's move from CBS to The CW, the network now has four superhero TV shows on the air. The others are, of course, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow, but a fifth will soon be added in the form of Black Lightning. While that's certainly exciting, those of you hoping that the hero would be seen standing side by side with characters from the shows mentioned above are going to be seriously disappointed.
It's been an exciting couple of days for fans of the web-slinger. In addition to some great Spider-Man: Homecoming Empire magazine covers, we've also seen brand new stills from the reboot and even a first look at Orange is the New Black star Michael Chernus as the villainous Tinkerer. Now, to keep the momentum going, some new promo art has found its way online and while it's not particularly revealing, it's sure to get comic book fans even more excited about the flick ahead of its release this July.
Kirsten Dunst played Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and while she spent the vast majority of her screentime being a damsel in distress, the actress did appear to enjoy her tenure as part of a superhero franchise. It certainly helped raise her profile in Hollywood, too.
Last night's penultimate episode of The Flash's third season featured some major shocks and an ending which could change the show forever, but before we reached that point, a massive easter egg was spotted which could be teasing the arrival of a pretty important DC Comics villain to the Arrowverse.
On paper, Logan probably seemed like a pretty risky venture. Aside from the R rating, James Mangold's threequel also set out to tell a mostly standalone story, one that was disconnected from the X-Men timeline which Fox has been building for years now. All that, combined with its bleak tone and western elements made for a very different kind of comic book movie, and one that could have flopped tremendously. However, thanks to some flawless execution and terrific performances, Logan has quickly become one of the genre's greatest achievements and a damn fine movie, making for a beautiful, heartfelt conclusion to Wolvie's story.
Though the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre (yes, that's how the title was spelt) is a classic in the horror genre, none of the following sequels, reboots or prequels have been very good. The franchise currently boasts 7 films, and as those who've seen them all can tell you, each one changed things up a bit, and not for the better. The result has been a tonally inconsistent and often ridiculed series of movies, with each one being worse than the last - for the most part.
Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman is now only a few weeks away and excitement is starting to mount. There's a lot riding on the film, what with it being Warner Bros.' chance to get their DC Extended Universe back on track, and if it's anything other than a bonafide hit, the studio's plans for the future could be put into serious jeopardy. Not only that, but this being a female-led superhero movie also adds another layer of pressure for Wonder Woman to deliver, as everyone waits with baited breath to see if it can pull in the same numbers at the box office as other efforts in the genre.
There's a cautious sense of optimism starting to build around Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok ahead of its November 3rd release. It's no secret that both Thor and its sequel, Thor: The Dark World, are amongst the weaker efforts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and all eyes are on the threequel to see if the third time will be the charm for the God of Thunder, especially since it's heading in such a drastically different direction that the first two films.
Yesterday evening, Josh Boone's New Mutants finally made its first two casting additions in the form of Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane. Additionally, it also lost one long rumoured cast member when it was revealed that James McAvoy's Professor X won't be appearing - despite earlier reports to the contrary. With shooting expected to kick off in July, more casting news is no doubt right around the corner, but the two aforementioned actresses joining the X-Men spinoff certainly has fans excited.
For years now, Ewan McGregor has been asked about reprising the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in a future Star Wars movie. He did briefly lend his voice to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but there's still been no word from Disney or Lucasfilm about the fan-favourite character receiving his own spinoff - despite a huge demand from fans for such a thing to happen.
