Believe it or not, 2018 will mark the ten year anniversary of Iron Man and the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That means there are now ten-year-old children enjoying Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 who were only just being born when Nick Fury first recruited Tony Stark - crazy, right?
Fans still holding out hope for a follow up to Love Actually will be pleased to know that their favorite characters are set to reunite, though perhaps not in the way that they were expecting. You see, instead of a traditional sequel, the gang is getting together for a short film called Red Nose Day Actually, which is set to air on NBC on May 25th at 10pm EST. Original writer/director Richard Curtis is back behind the camera, and most of the cast members have returned, too, as the trailer above makes clear.
Some good news and some bad news coming out of the television industry tonight, as Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has scored a surprising renewal while Powerless, which was pretty much dead on arrival, got the axe - much to the surprise of no one. Though it boasted a unique and fun premise and looked fairly entertaining throughout its marketing campaign, it simply never took off and the writing had been on the wall for a while now.
There's only a few weeks left until Wonder Woman smashes into theatres and box office tracking data points to the DC Comics adaptation debuting with a solid $65 million in North America. That's not a huge number compared to most superhero movies these days, but it's certainly not anything to scoff at. To put it into context for you, 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor also opened with $65 million, while Ant-Man scored $57 million in 2015.
While the original plan for the next Batman movie was for the Caped Crusader to square off with Deathstroke, we're not too sure how much things have changed since Matt Reeves took over from Ben Affleck as director. That's why Josh Gad Tweeting a picture of The Penguin generated such excitement the other week. After all, the talented Beauty and the Beast actor would be a great fit for the role, and regardless of whether it's in The Batman or even Gotham City Sirens, comic book fans would definitely like to see him take on the iconic villain.
The CW already has four DC Comics adaptations airing on the network, but they're now officially adding a fifth. It's been revealed today that Black Lightning has been ordered to series, news which doesn't come as a huge surprise considering the fact the buzz around this one has been pretty positive so far.
There's less than a month to go now until the release of Wonder Woman, but Warner Bros. has already revealed soundtrack details for the highly anticipated movie. As if so often the case, there are some possible spoilers sprinkled throughout here, but for the most part, the listing offers just a vague outline of how things will play out.
It was yesterday that Fox gave upcoming X-Men TV series The Gifted a full series order and as Bryan Singer continues working on the pilot episode, he's taken to Instagram to share a brand new photo from the show's set. After taking the helm of four X-Men movies, Singer is an undeniably great choice to introduce viewers to this world, though it's still not clear how or if it will somehow tie into the big screen adventures of Marvel's mutants.
We have a long list of reasons to be excited about The Defenders, with the fact that the eight episode event series will bring together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist for the first time obviously being the biggest. However, legendary actress Sigourney Weaver signing on to play the villain here is also a very, very big deal.
Though its first season was a gripping, terrifying and engaging outing of television, full of supernatural thrills and tons of gory action, The Strain has since gone nowhere but downhill. It's far from a bad show, of course, but FX has never really been able to recapture the magic of that rookie outing and thankfully, the creators have realized this too, as the series will be calling it quits after its fourth and final season.
