Many people consider M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable to be the greatest comic book movie ever made that wasn't actually based on a comic book. The film tells the story of a man named David Dunn (Bruce Willis), who slowly discovers that he's impervious to harm. Ultimately, he decides to accept his destiny and become a "superhero," which in turn leads the man (Samuel L. Jackson) responsible for making him aware of his gift down a villainous path. For many years, the director has promised that he would one day get to work on a sequel, but nothing ever came to fruition...until now.
The cast of Shane Black's upcoming Predator remake just keeps getting better and better, doesn't it? Already set to star Boyd Holbrook, Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn and Keegan-Michael Key, among others, the action film has just added another impressive individual to its roster in the form of Thomas Jane.
Up until a few weeks ago, it seemed that Warner Bros. had all but forgotten about poor old Green Lantern Corps. Though nearly all their other DC Extended Universe films had been receiving extensive coverage lately, the 2020 flick was flying well below the radar, with some fans even questioning if the studio still planned on moving ahead with it.
Along with dropping several new stills from the R-rated Logan earlier today, the latest issue of Empire Magazine also brought with it a new photo from Zack Snyder's Justice League. Actually, let's rewind a bit. It's not exactly new, as we saw basically the same shot in the Comic-Con trailer released last year. However, there is something worth mentioning here, and that's the suspicious absence of Aquaman.
BBC's Sherlock recently concluded its fourth, and potentially final season. Overall, it was a bit of an uneven outing, one that fell victim to an unfortunate leak, but it still provided a number of memorable moments and enough enjoyment that fans will no doubt want to revisit it in the near future. Thankfully, they'll get a chance to do just that, as the show hits Blu-ray and DVD on January 24th. It won't only be the three most recent episodes that will be included either, as the disc will also boast several special features for you to dig into.
Avengers: Infinity War is set to be absolutely massive, and we don't just mean in terms of scale and scope. While it'll definitely be large in both those regards, it's also set to feature a shockingly big cast. Aside from the usual suspects, like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, etc., the film will also make room for the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, potentially Pip the Troll and many, many more.
For a while now, Warner Bros. has kept suspiciously quiet about Green Lantern Corps. Perhaps it's because their first attempt to bring him to the big screen - 2011's Green Lantern - was a bit of a disaster. Or maybe it's because the film is still so far off (2020) and the studio has been focused on projects like Wonder Woman and Justice League for the last little while. Either way, it seems that WB is finally ready to start kicking things into gear now.
We're only a few weeks away now from the return of AMC's The Walking Dead and excitement is slowly, but surely building. While the first half of season 7 was iffy, to say the least, the next batch of episodes promise to be a whole lot more engaging and thrilling. Not that what came before didn't have its moments, but ever since the electrifying, and incredibly violent premiere, The Walking Dead has certainly had more downs than ups.
Though Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was probably the most divisive film of 2016, Suicide Squad was an extremely close second. While some will defend David Ayer's take on Task Force X to the grave, many others will call it one of the biggest disappointments of all-time as far as comic book movies go, citing a disjointed story, under-written characters and a ridiculous villain as its main problems.
With Sherlock all but confirmed to be over, it's time for Benedict Cumberbatch to push full steam ahead with his film career. The actor is quickly becoming one of the hottest talents in Hollywood and thanks to a stunning Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Doctor Strange, he's well on his way to becoming a household name, too. Next up for him are two big, but very different projects, though each of them revolve around a war of sorts.
