DC is seeing tremendous success on the small screen right now, what with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and more all doing very well. And while some of their shows do have a certain degree of humor in them already, the company will be diving into full-out comedy with their upcoming series Powerless. Debuting in February and starring Vanessa Hudgens, who leads a cast that also includes Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk, Christina Kirk and Ron Funches, it's shaping up to be a fresh and exciting offering from DC that we really can't wait for.
It's certainly been a good holiday season for the folks over at Disney. After opening to much praise from fans and critics alike, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has proven to be quite the juggernaut at the box office, both in North America and around the world. Quickly racking up an enormous profit for the studio and not looking to slow down anytime soon, we imagine that all involved couldn't be happier with how things turned out.
At the time it was seen a quite a casting coup when Marvel Studios landed Natalie Portman for the female lead role in the first Thor movie, as the actress had just won an Academy Award for Black Swan and was highly sought after for a number of projects by several different studios. Unfortunately, her character Jane Foster didn't really make much of an impact, and despite appearing in the first sequel, Thor: The Dark World, Portman won't reprise the role for Ragnarok.
Now that the WponX Instagram page seems to have stopped debuting cryptic black and white images from James Mangold's Logan, we're beginning to see some official, full-color movie stills emerge. This latest one has been scanned from the latest issue of Empire Magazine, and provides a new look at the mutant bloodhound known as Caliban, who'll be played by British actor/writer Stephen Merchant.
On the heels of an overall synopsis for the second half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s fourth season and a breakdown of the first episode back, we have this intriguing tease for the following week's installment, which is titled "The Patriot." As many Marvel Comics fans rightfully guessed around the time he debuted on the show, the team's new director Jeffrey Mace (Irish actor Jason O'Mara) is actually based on a character called The Patriot - a Golden Age superhero first introduced in the '40s, who actually served under the mantle of Captain America for a time.
Ever since the character of Jerome (Shameless actor Cameron Monaghan) was introduced back in season 2 of Gotham, it was foreshadowed that he would one day become Batman's most iconic nemesis, The Joker. Indeed, the showrunners played this up, and Jerome definitely exhibited some very Joker-like personality traits - but it is a little difficult to achieve Clown Prince of Crime status when you're six feet under.
We're now only a few days away from 2017 and as we head into January, it's time to find some new Netflix shows to binge watch as movie theaters tend to be pretty unexciting throughout the first month or two of the new year. That's because it's a time when studios dump all their trash and trying to find something worth watching is a tough task. Admittedly, February usually yields a few gems and isn't quite as bad, but January is often pretty rough.
Ryan Reynolds first made his debut as Wade Wilson alongside Hugh Jackman in the much-maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine (though the character went on to become a bastardized version of Deadpool), and following the huge success of the Merc with a Mouth's first solo outing, both actors have been keen to work together again. The fact that Logan is being touted as Jackman's final appearance as the mutant berserker obviously cast doubt on this ever coming to pass, but a new rumor suggests otherwise.
Given that the last season of HBO's Game of Thrones actually moved past George R.R. Martin's source novels, some fans are worried that The Walking Dead might eventually do the same and catch up to Robert Kirkman's acclaimed comic book series. Thankfully, there's a big difference between the latest, massive book in the Song of Ice and Fire saga and an ongoing fortnightly comic, so we probably don't have to worry about the show being forced to improvise any plot points for the time being.
Last week, Marvel and ABC released a synopsis for the second half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s fourth season, but now we have a far more specific breakdown for the first instalment back - which we now know will be titled "Broken Promises" - that gives us a much better idea of what we can expect. In addition, six new promotional stills have been released that feature some of the key characters from the episode.
