It's been a bit of a bumpy road for The Walking Dead this season. Though AMC's hit series started off on an electrifying note, what with the shocking deaths of both Abraham and Glenn, since then, the show has struggled to find a satisfying pace. While there have been some exciting moments here and there, a lot of what we've seen so far this year has felt more like filler than anything else, with entire episodes coming off as nothing but a bore (and its ratings have reflected that).
Though J.J. Abrams used practical effects whenever possible in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it was necessary to utilize CGI for one particular character: the villainous Supreme Leader Snoke. The hideously scarred baddie was only glimpsed as a giant hologram in the film, but that was most likely just a clever way to introduce him without giving too much away, and he will almost certainly appear in the flesh in the still untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII. Plus, he may not be a CG creation this time.
Season 1 of HBO's Westworld brought with it a large amount of twists and turns, some expected and others more predictable. While the identity of The Man in Black (Ed Harris) was figured out by fans several weeks before it was revealed in the finale, it was still no less of a shocker. We may have known it was coming, but the moment where we finally see that The Man in Black is actually William (Jimmi Simpson) is still an effective one and will no doubt be remembered as one of the show's more powerful moments.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. closed out its Ghost Rider arc in last night's winter finale with style, answering several questions that have lingered since the fourth season began, and, of course, raising a few new ones in the process. Mack and Yo-Yo finally hooked up, Robbie Reyes confronted his evil uncle Eli, Mace suited-up and turned out to be pretty damn awesome, and in the end we discovered that May was actually a life model decoy created by Aida. Yep, that last one did raise a few eyebrows.
New promos for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story are zooming in pretty much every day now as the Gareth Edwards-directed movie's release date draws near, but this latest one is notable for more than just a few seconds worth of new footage. Around the 7 second mark, we see a fleet of Rebel ships gather in from of an Imperial Star Destroyer, and the little craft on the bottom left should be very familiar to fans of Disney XD's excellent animated series, Star Wars Rebels.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters in less than 2 weeks, and once that's been well and truly absorbed, fans will be turning their attention to next year's still untitled follow up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. "Episode VIII" will more than likely answer at least some of the questions raised in its predecessor - but it seems one fairly major revelation may have been right under our noses in TFA all along: the identities of Rey's mother and father.
The Hollywood Reporter is telling today us that Marvel has chosen Iron Fist showrunner Scott Buck to oversee The Inhumans, their upcoming ABC series which will premiere in IMAX theatres in September 2017. Set to revolve around Black Bolt and the Royal Family, casting is expected to get underway shortly now that Buck has come on board to steer the ship.
Brazil's Comic Con Experience took place over the weekend, and fans in attendance got to see some brand new footage from what's being pegged as the very last Wolverine movie, James Mangold's Logan. Star Hugh Jackman himself debuted the clip via video message, and reports indicate that almost an entire scene was shown.
The brand new trailer for James Gunn's Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 was released over the weekend, and went down very well indeed with the majority of fans. Not too surprisingly, the most talked about element was Baby Groot, who definitely stole the teaser with the hilarious/adorable moments he shared with best pal Rocket Raccoon. Given the immense popularity these characters already enjoyed after the first film, could we see a Rocket/Groot spinoff happen someday? Vin Diesel seems fairly confident that we will.
Michael Bay has announced that with filming having now wrapped, the very first trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight will be arriving at some point tomorrow. This lines up with previous reports that stated it'd be with us in December. While many thought it could be debuting with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as that's what rumors pointed to, it seems that we'll now be getting it a little earlier than that.
