Despite being generally well received by critics and fans alike, Star Trek Beyond is in danger of being viewed as a box office flop. The sci-fi adventure flick hasn't finished its theatrical run just yet (it opened in China on September 1), but analysts reckon it's going to have to rake in $350 million to recoup the budget and promotional costs, and since it currently sits at around $244.5 million, that's going to be tough.
Fox's Batman prequel series, Gotham, has gradually become more and more fantasy-based as it's moved towards its third season, introducing various characters and storylines which draw influence from the superpower-infused DC comic books. Arguably the most out-there season 3 addition is a more mature incarnation of Poison Ivy (Maggie Geha) , who will replace Clare Foley's younger "Ivy Pepper".
Joe and Anthony Russo are expected to commence production on Avengers: Infinity War next month, and although we may get a few sneaky set snaps (the duo have already provided fans with a Josh Brolin rehearsal pic) finding their way online this side of Christmas, it's probably going to be quite a while before we're treated to any official footage. Fortunately, we do have a very impressive fan-made trailer to keep you going in the interim.
Doctor Strange is scheduled to hit theaters this November, and although the majority of us know very little about the Sorcerer Supreme, we’ve learned to trust Marvel’s judgement when it comes to introducing lesser known characters into the MCU. After all, we saw what happened with Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014, right?
Marvel is experiencing a tremendous amount of success on the small screen. Maybe not so much with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the now cancelled Agent Carter, but certainly over on Netflix, and that's more than making up for their shortcomings elsewhere. Fans have been eating up the series that Marvel has been premiering on the streaming service, and with reviews for the upcoming Luke Cage appearing to be extremely positive, it looks like they've got another hit on their hands.
In celebration of Batman Day, Zack Snyder has given us our first look at Commissioner Gordon in Justice League. Played by J.K. Simmons, it's a shadowy photo that just barely reveals the character, but we'll take what we can get at this stage. Plus, with production now wrapping up on the film, you can bet that we'll be seeing a lot more in the months to come.
We only have four days to go now until Marvel's flagship TV series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., returns to our screens, and promotion has kicked into high gear this week. Following a Ghost Rider-centric promo, ABC has released the first few minutes of Tuesday's season premiere, "The Ghost," and it re-introduces some very familiar faces right off the bat.
Right at the very end of the third season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daisy, AKA Quake, donned leather and some black eye-shadow as part of her new rogue identity. The events of that season finale made it clear that the one-time computer hacker had distanced herself from her former teammates, but some new details on the character reveal that it won't just be her outfit that's darkened.
Back before the reviews for Suicide Squad made their way online, it was reported that Warner Bros. was planning a solo Harley Quinn movie, which would see Margot Robbie reprise the role of The Joker's maniacal main squeeze. After the critical backlash and initial box office drop, however, many figured the studio might rethink any spinoff plans they had in place - but, it seems the Harley flick is still very much alive.
HBO's Game of Thrones isn't usually known for shying away from a bit of gratuitous violence, but that's exactly what happened with one particular scene towards the end of penultimate season 6 episode, "The Battle of the Bastards."
