Right at the very end of the third season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daisy, AKA Quake, donned leather and some black eye-shadow as part of her new rogue identity. The events of that season finale made it clear that the one-time computer hacker had distanced herself from her former teammates, but some new details on the character reveal that it won’t just be her outfit that’s darkened.
EW has debuted a new image of Daisy today and in it, she’s about to make the earth move for an unfortunate adversary (Ghost Rider, perhaps?). They also released an interview with actress Chloe Bennet, who talks about stepping back into the role of the troubled Inhuman, who will actually be viewed as a villain by many when we rejoin her in the season 4 premiere.
Everyone she’s gotten close to has died. Her way of protecting the people that she cares about — which is Coulson and the rest of the team — is to distance herself. She’s doing anything she can to help people and try to makeup for what she feels is her fault. I don’t think she’s necessarily working against S.H.I.E.L.D., she’s Robin Hood-ing it. My favorite part about playing Daisy is her empathy for people. I’d like to think that she is doing what she’s doing because she wants to help.
Of course, it’s almost inevitable that Daisy will rejoin her friends at some point – but before that happens, she’s going to have a fiery Spirit of Vengeance to contend with.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, Sept. 20 on ABC.
