Zack Snyder sure has been keeping busy, what with his highly publicized cut of Justice League coming to HBO Max. But he's also finishing up a lesser-known project called Army of the Dead, a zombie film being produced for Netflix. The movie has been in post-production for the past seven months and as far as updates go, the only timeline the director has offered has been “coming soon.”
While the fate of Justice League now rests on the shoulders of the Snyder Cut, there’s one DCEU property that’s almost guaranteed to enjoy a healthy run in the foreseeable future. We’re talking about Shazam!, a movie that managed to captivate a dedicated fanbase and restore some hope for DC’s flagging cinematic division.
When it comes to the DC cinematic universe, the results are a mixed bag of complete flops and pleasant surprises. That being said, the DCEU is getting something of a facelift with the Snyder Cut of Justice League and the prospect of a revised Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. But there's always the possibility of this being a case of too little, too late.
Few characters have enjoyed as many portrayals or voices as DC’s very own Clown Prince of Crime. The list includes some pretty prominent talents at that, the most iconic being Mark Hamill’s sinister voice from Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham video games, and then there was the supremely lauded performance by Heath Ledger in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, but these are just the tip of the iceberg. There’s also been Joaquin Phoenix from 2019's Oscar-nominated Joker, Jack Nicholson, Cameron Monaghan, Troy Baker and, believe it or not, even Zach Galifianakis in the The LEGO Batman Movie.
Some actors were born to play iconic roles that were seemingly made for them, just like a perfectly-tailored glove. We’re talking Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. But do you see a pattern here? Over the past couple of years, all these characters were played off stage to their swan song, some with more permanence than others.
If you’re of the opinion that there can never be enough Avatar: The Last Airbender goodness to immerse yourself in, we’ve got some great news for you. Sources close to WGTC - the same ones who told us Percy Jackson is being rebooted as a streaming series and a Justice League Dark show is coming to HBO Max - have informed us that Netflix is reportedly planning a live-action version of The Legend of Korra as well.
Can you imagine your favorite movie franchise being called something completely different? That was almost the case with John Wick. Movie names change all the time and in-development projects usually have working titles that are later dropped, so that shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Except in this case it was a goof-up on Keanu Reeves’ part that led to the revision.
The Snyder Cut of Justice League was a long time coming, with fans fervently petitioning its release for close to two and a half years before finally getting their way. Whether it can correct the missteps of Joss Whedon’s version remains to be seen, but now that the film is making its way to HBO Max, teasers and snippets of information are flying out faster than Superman racing to save the day. Among these was the reveal of the actor who played Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s film, and no, it isn't a certain WWE wrestler.
When a continuity spans over a decade and more than 20 films, there are bound to be new discoveries and loose ends that don’t hold up under scrutiny. Fans are always keeping their eyes open for the next plot hole that they can open up to public discussion and this time the scene in question is part of the trippy time-heist sequence from Avengers: Endgame, where the Avengers split up to steal the Infinity Stones from different moments in time.
