Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been voted one of the most anticipated 2021 sequels. The Tom Hardy movie was originally slated to come out in October of this year, but due to COVID-19, production was shut down forcing Sony Pictures to move the release date to June of 2021.
Fans are finally getting what they wished for as Zack Snyder’s definitive cut of Justice League will be arriving on HBO Max sometime in 2021. The director has already been teasing us as well with what we can expect to see in his version, including Martian Manhunter and perhaps a little more of Darkseid.
Epix has decided to push back the release of their upcoming six-part docuseries, Helter Skelter: An American Myth. The show was scheduled to premiere on June 14th and while a replacement date has yet to be set, the network felt it wasn’t the right time to release it due to its subject matter, which includes Charles Manson’s plan to incite a race war called Helter Skelter.
In ten years when people look at bar graphs of annual box office revenue, they’re going to see an outlier in 2020. Cinemas began shutting down in mid-March due to COVID-19 and have largely remained closed ever since. There've been reports of smaller independent theaters and drive-ins reopening in the last couple of weeks, but with no revenue for over two months now, the domestic box office is expected to plummet at least 50 percent when compared to 2019.
Good news, movie lovers! Cinemark, one of the three largest theater chains in the US, plans to gradually begin reopening its locations on June 19th. If all goes to plan, they anticipate every theater in the country to be back in business by July 10th. But here’s the catch: they won’t require patrons to wear face masks.
Space Force, the new Netflix comedy from Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation), debuted last Friday and it’s already the most popular piece of content on the streaming platform. Of course, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering the track record of Daniels as well as the popularity of star Steve Carell.
