Lionsgate Summons An Adaptation Of The Monolith

Something big this way comes, and it is an entirely new adaptation of a DC comic book property. Lionsgate has lined up the project, which will bring The Monolith to movie theatres – having enjoyed a 12 issue run between 2004 and 2005. Created by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, the plot is a variation on the idea of the Golem – a legendary, destructive aberration made of clay.

Untitled Seth MacFarlane TV Show Gains Jon Favreau As Director

It bodes well for your television project if it attracts the filmmaker that kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe to direct the pilot episode – and that’s exactly the kind of boost currently being enjoyed by Seth MacFarlane and Fox, as Iron Man director Jon Favreau signs on to shepherd MacFarlane’s new sci-fi series onto the air. It does not yet have a title, but the show will be the first live-action dramedy that the Family Guy creator has delivered for the network.

New Sci-Fi Movie Captive State Will Be Directed By Rupert Wyatt

For those that follow these things, the commitment of directors to film projects can sometimes seem like a giant game of musical chairs. Filmmaker Rupert Wyatt is a case in point, in that he was previously attached to direct the movie Gambit as a follow-up to his 2014 film The Gambler, but soon moved on from that project. His next time in the director’s chair will now be Captive State – a film he has co-written with Erica Beeney (The Battle Of Shaker Heights).

The CW will soon be saying goodbye to the popular TV series The Vampire Diaries – which will draw to a close after its forthcoming eighth season – but the gap in its schedule will soon be filled. The network has snapped up a new show from three of the executive producers of the departing drama, and audiences will soon be able to cast their eyes over Rise.

First Trailer For Manchester By The Sea Arrives

Kenneth Lonergan is perhaps one of the most highly respected writer-directors working today – and yet his cinematic output is less than prolific. While he has penned a number of screenplays, the upcoming Manchester By The Sea is only his third time at the helm, after 2000’s You Can Count On Me and 2011’s Margaret. Arguably, a lot of that will be connected to the protracted legal battles that surrounded the edit and release of his second film – originally scheduled for release in 2007 – but thankfully, no such drama engulfed Manchester By The Sea.
