Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest girlfriend rumors have everyone making a sobering ‘The Last of Us’ comparison

I can't believe all it took was 'The Last of Us' to understand how weird Leonardo DiCaprio's newest relationship is.

It’s so secret that Leonardo DiCaprio tends to be a certain age and would eventually break up once the girl turns 25. So when it was rumored that another young woman became DiCaprio’s newest fling, the age gap is so noticeable that the easiest way to understand how weird it is… is through HBO’s The Last of Us.

In case you didn’t know, DiCaprio is 48 years old, and his rumored girlfriend, Eden Polani, is 19 years old. While she looks “mature” and “adult” in her Instagram photos, it doesn’t negate the fact she’s under 20. Unfortunately, there are people out there who don’t see a problem with DiCaprio’s newest romance. And why would they if she looks like she’s 25 and over?

So to easily demonstrate how big the age gap is and how “uncomfortable” this looks, this is where The Last of Us comes in. People pointed out the ages of the show’s lead stars, Pedro Pascal (47 years old) and Bella Ramsey (19 years old), and how it’s similar to DiCaprio and Polani’s ages.

Now, do you see how weird it is to have a nearly 50-year-old man date a 19-year-old girl?

While Pascal is labeled as the internet’s “daddiest of daddies,” fans are currently relieved that he isn’t insane enough to date someone that’s twice as young as him. Not only will that break a lot of hearts, but it is very questionable at best, and possibly very uncomfortable to think about.

So sure, DiCaprio’s newest lover may look mature, but we shouldn’t negate the fact that she’s at an age where she couldn’t legally drink yet in the USA. So if you see someone who thinks it’s ok to support DiCaprio’s latest romances, show them a photo of Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us and ask if those two datings would be appropriate.

But hey, at least the relationship is legal, right? Dating someone over the age of 18 and all. Surely there wouldn’t be some sort of power differences or generational gaps to be concerned about. It’s not like a Grammy-winning pop star shed a light on this type of relationship through a 10-minute short film that was played during a film festival. Oh, wait…
