The best Amazon Prime Day memes

Should we be encouraging this? Yes, yes we should.

July 11-12 marks Amazon Prime Day (although isn’t it technically two days?), the time where the global shopping retailer Amazon chops down prices for Prime members with exclusive deals. This promotion only runs for a limited amount of time, but for a short period, customers can get items such as TVs, tablets, phones, gadgets, furniture, clothes, and much more for low-low prices. Instead of the $99.99 retail charge, some items have been listed for just $54.99, so there’s no happier time to be with Prime.

Now, Amazon has already given us a whole lot. We have Amazon Music, Prime Gaming, Prime Video, and a whole host of Android games available on Amazon Kindle tablets. We thought it couldn’t get much better than that, but then Amazon goes and treats us to half-off items every year.

And as it’s Amazon Prime Day, we thought it appropriate to gather some hilarious memes and celebrate the occasion with some lighthearted comedy. It’s a well-known fact that Amazon Prime members are notorious for going a bit overboard on Prime Day, so much so that there’s a whole community of memes out there to communicate the ups and downs of ordering far, far too many items.

1. Optimus Prime died for our sins

Not to be confused with Transformers‘ leader of the Autobots, Prime Day allows customers to unlock one-time-only deals. However, as Prime Day has become synonymous with Optimus Prime himself, there’s always a little confusion as to whom or what Prime Day represents. And thus, plenty of memes depicting Optimus Prime dying so that Amazon Prime Day could be born… were born.

2. Where did all the memes go?

The internet has been slacking on memes for this year’s Prime Day, so that became a meme in and of itself. It depicts a figure made out of Amazon delivery boxes, ironically, crying in bed about how the Amazon Prime memes are few and far between. What our cardboard companion seems to have overlooked is the fact that “cries in 2-day shipping” isn’t so much heart-wrenching as it is hilarious.

3. Package obsessed

Now this meme isn’t specifically about Amazon Prime Day, we grant you, but it’s still a rib-tickler for sure. There are no words to describe the adrenaline rush that one gets when opening their Amazon Prime package, and as we savagely rip open the box to stare down at our goodies, wouldn’t it be funny to imagine a small man cowering in the corner? No? Is that a little too morbid? Ah, what the heck.

4. Primenesia, ay?

At some point in our lives, we’ve al fallen victim to Primenesia. Although it is curable, Primenesia is a deadly disease in which a person orders so many Amazon Prime packages that they forget what exactly they ordered. In fact, your porch is so flooded with packages that the whole thing becomes overwhelming. Shame on you for clicking “add to cart,” but although your memory has gone to mush, you’ll be ready to do it all again next year.

5. Dormammu…

Even if you’re not that big on Marvel, chances are you’ve caught some of Doctor Strange, which is arguably one of the best MCU movies. Towards the end of the third act, Strange confronts Dormammu, a world-eater who seeks to conquer planets and devour them. When Dormammu sets his sights on Earth, Strange must intervene and outsmart him. He tells Dormammu that he’s “come to bargain,” trapping the entity in a never-ending time-loop of that exact moment. As Strange dies over and over again, he reappears and repeats the same dialogue. Although it’s taken slightly out of context, on Amazon Prime Day, Amazon have come to bargain.

6. Time to change the Facebook status!

If you think you’ve been single for a while and you’re struggling to find “the one,” don’t worry, they were right there under your nose all along. And no, we’re not talking about that architect you met in the bar one time, we’re talking about Amazon Prime. It loves you unconditionally, never leaves you (so long as you keep paying the subscription), and gives you anything you want… at the expense of your bank account. That’s a toxic relationship, for sure, but it sure does feel like love sometimes, doesn’t it?

7. It’s not for everybody

While half the globe splurges on Amazon Prime Day, the other half are shielding their wallets and protecting their precious funds from Amazon’s greed. Prime Day isn’t for everyone; some go absolutely bonkers for the bargains, but others are quite happy to skip over the whole thing and keep a tight lock on their spending. And that’s the smart thing to do, isn’t it? But we’re not all that strong-willed.

Prime Day lasts from July 11 to July 12, so there’s only a short amount of time to splurge on all the items you’re missing around the home. But we definitely don’t endorse the act of impulsive spending… no, not at all.
