While Metal Gear Rising is still on track for launch early next year worldwide, it seems that 360 owners in Japan may have to find another means of playing the game. Konami announced this morning that the Xbox 360 version of the game will not be released in the Land of the Rising Sun.

The announcement comes from Konami’s official website. There’s no other reason given for the cancellation, although given the struggle for the console to gain any sort of popularity in Japan, this isn’t terribly surprising.

Konami has confirmed though that all other regions are still planned to get the 360 version of the game. We’ll keep you posted if that changes.

For now though, we sympathize with all four Xbox 360 owners in Japan that are disappointed at this new revelation.
