The first Bungie Weekly Update of 2016 arrived earlier today to detail the upcoming changes and additions for Destiny over the next few weeks. The update post is fairly large in size, and most notably provides detail for how the developer plans to embrace the looming Valentine’s Day through their game in the coming weeks.

Starting on February 9th, Destiny will be encouraging Guardians to couple up for a new 2v2 Crucible game. Named ‘Crimson Doubles,’ the mode will include gameplay mechanics to demand two players with complimenting styles to work together if they hope to emerge victorious and win themselves some new loot, which will be detailed in next week’s update. As if there wasn’t already enough pressure to partner up around Valentine’s Day, eh?

Along with the Crimson Days, Bungie’s latest update provides detail of the next Iron Banner event. The event will recommence between January 26th and February 2nd and will focus on RIFT games, where you can make yourself continuously more powerful as long as your team is carrying the Spark.

Of course, a new Iron Banner means new gear, and the update also gave the following information about new gear arriving with the event:

Available from Lord Saladin:

  • Rank 3: Class Item, PlayStation Class Item
  • Rank 4: Chest Piece, Scout Rifle
  • Rank 5: Fusion Rifle

Available as post-game drops:

  • Rank 2: Boots
  • Rank 3: Chest Piece, PlayStation Helmet, Scout Rifle
  • Rank 4: Fusion Rifle
You can check out the remaining minor Destiny updates over at Bungie’s site, but don’t spend too long reading or all of the best dates for Crimson Days will already be taken!
