Microsoft has acknowledged the disappointment shared by many Xbox One owners at the inability to buy Xbox 360 games directly from the Xbox One’s digital store. Taking to Twitter to address the dismay over gamers’ inability to purchase Xbox 360 software on the console’s successor, Microsoft boss Phil Spencer said that the company have “heard the request” and are “working on a solution.”

The highly-anticipated backwards compatibility feature – that lets Xbox One owners play games from its predecessor on the current generation console – announced back at E3 in June went live just one month ago to a positive reception, but there’s clearly still some work to do to make the service perfect.

Currently, the only way to get 360 software on the One is either by purchasing it through Microsoft’s digital store, or by buying what you want on the former and then transferring it to the latter. That is of course, assuming that the game you’re looking to play is currently supported by the service.

As the situation stands, it means you’re still required to either have your 360 hooked up or navigate your way through the Xbox Store on the net. Not an ideal situation, by any means.

Spencer didn’t provide any ETA on when we can expect to see the update, but we’ll keep you posted if and when more details come.
