But while Square Enix have yet to confirm any dates, they have announced some of the changes that players can expect to see from the new versions of Final Fantasy IX, for the PC editions at least. The game’s Steam listing confirms that it will include “seven game boosters including high speed and no encounter modes,” meaning that you’ll be able to make quicker progress without the pesky unpredictability of random encounters.

The PC release will also add achievements to your progress through the game, and will be packaged with new high-definition movies and boast enhanced character models. No word has come to confirm which of these additions will also reach the mobile iterations, but it’s expected that they will be very similar.

So, if you can’t wait to dive back into the classic Final Fantasy IX, keep an eye out for more news about these re-released editions as it comes to us.
