DOOM 3 BFG Edition Finally Lets You Ditch The Flashlight

DOOM 3 was one of the most technically impressive games of its time. As long as you could see what was going on that is. Well thanks to the folks at id Software and Bethesda, we’re getting a re-release of not one, not two, not three, but three-and-a-half DOOM games.

The DOOM 3: BFG Edition, set to hit PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime later this year, will feature a remastered version of PC and Xbox classic DOOM 3, along with the Resurrection of Evil expansion and a brand new, seven-level solo portion called The Lost Mission.  The game will feature all the expected sprinkles of a re-release these days and be loaded with achievements/trophies, 3D support, and oddly enough support for head-mounted screen devices.

But wait! There’s more! The game will also include the full versions of both DOOM I and II, meaning you can play the entire series on a single disc at last.

But the most exciting bit of news is the “armor-mounted flashlight.” Remember that awkward flashlight you had to hold in the original game that took the place of your weapon and was REALLY fun to smack zombies in the face with? Yeah, that’s mounted to your armor now, so you never have to put down your gun for the sake of actually being able to see stuff ever again. Oh happy day!

Oh, and there’s a trailer. Enjoy!

Sorry, the video is currently unavailable.
