A recently released ESRB ratings board listing may have revealed a new playable character for the upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations 2, which will launch in early 2015 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC.

As of right now, we know that the only confirmed playable characters are series mainstay Claire Redfield and Moira Burton, daughter of Resident Evil 1 favorite Barry Burton. Barry has been absent from the series since then, but the ESRB listing suggests that he could be on his way back.

This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the roles of an imprisoned woman and a father searching for his daughter on an island.

Unless the patriarch of the Redfield family is making an appearance, or this refers to another unannounced character, this sounds like Barry will be making his grand return. While you can still find the ratings description on the ESRB website, Capcom has yet to officially comment on the matter.

The rest of the descriptions adds very little to what we already know about Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Characters will wield a wide assortment of weapons, make noise when in pain, say some curse words and the enemies will look gruesome. The only other interesting nugget is the fact that at some point during the game, “a human character” will shoot “herself in the head with a pistol.” Will it be either Claire or Moira? I doubt it, but you never know with Capcom.

I had the chance to go hands-on with Revelations 2 back at New York Comic Con and I was generally impressed with what I saw. It doesn’t break much new ground, but I appreciate the fact that Capcom is going back to the basics here.

We will continue to have coverage of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 in the lead-up to its 2015 release, so stay tuned!
