Just a few hours in, Fortnite players have no doubt already familiarized themselves with much of Season X’s new content. Epic undoubtedly has a bag of surprises waiting to be unleashed as the season progresses but right now, one particular new arrival is the talk of the town. Newly-assembled piloted B.R.U.T.E. mechs are clearly the headline addition this time around and boast more firepower than a small army.
In case you missed it, you can find everything you need to know about Fortnite‘s latest vehicle over here, as we’ve got some quite massive changes to Battle Island that need addressing. Before we go any further down that rabbit hole, however, check out the battle royale’s refreshed Season X map below.
As you can clearly see, every individual biome from Season 9 remains intact for its successor though that’s likely where the familiarity ends. Eyes will immediately be drawn to the words Dusty Depot printed smack-bang in the middle of Battle Island. The location, which was wiped out of existence several seasons ago, returns as part of Season X’s time travel theme, though not exactly as you remember it, so says Epic.
A number of miscellaneous additions have been scattered across the map, too, one of which is extremely hard not to notice. Up in the sky, hanging forebodingly above Dusty Divot is a flaming meteorite suspended in time. Will the newly-restored point of interest once again be obliterated in hellfire at Season X’s end, or is it merely a cute nod to the original catastrophe? We’ll surely find out at a later date but for now, players are free to land on the fireball and can even score themselves some sweet loot.
As for Season 9’s Neo Tilted and Mega Mall locations, both remain intact, though the Slipstream travel system and Sky Platforms introduced alongside them have since been removed from the wider map.
