A recently updated job post by Google reveals that the internet giant is seeking out a project manager of some sort to drive ‘Google’s gaming strategy’, and take the reins on some new platform we assume they plan to release in the future.

Part of the job description reads:

“You will design strategies for game distribution and discovery, player identity, game mechanics, and more. In addition to designing a great user experience and building out key partnerships, you will be significantly influencing Google’s social platform as you work directly with a critical set of early adopters, game developers.”

Just how this will eventually translate in any meaningful way to the gamers is currently unknown. Considering the underwhelming launch of Google’s various phone handsets a few years ago it’s very tricky to say. There’s an awful lot lined up to be happening at the end of 2011-begining of 2012 in the games industry so whether Google can make enough noise to get our attention is yet to be seen.

Judging from the job description, the platform truly is in its infant stages but who knows where it will end up ? It could just turn out to be a over sized electric box that supports a newer android market?

We’ll keep you updated as anything interesting develops.
