Take-Two Interactive has announced that worldwide sales revenue from Grand Theft Auto V has surpassed $1 billion during its first three days on store shelves. According to the publisher’s estimates, this makes GTA V the fastest selling entertainment property — including video games and movies — to reach the milestone.

Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment,” commented Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two. “We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V.”

Earlier this week Take-Two reported that worldwide sales of GTA V had reached $800 million, which set a new first day record for both the series and the publisher. While we don’t have any exact unit sales figures to attach to today’s news, the update makes it clear that Grand Theft Auto V will likely break several more industry records before all is said and done.
