iPhone 4: 1.7 Million Sold In the First Three Days

Although predictions were that Apple would sell 1.5 million phones on release day, 1.7 million in three days is still a shocking number. Especially in comparison to the 8 million iPhones that were sold in the second quarter of 2010.

“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history. Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.

Predictions were, that Apple would sell 1.5 million phones on release day. According to Cnet, Apple surpassed the predictions by selling 1.7 million. In comparison, Apple sold 1 million of both the 3G and 3GS in their opening weekends.

So what’s next on Apple’s agenda? That’s easy…the reception problem. We’ll see how Jobs acts on the issue. Apparently there should be a fix this week as the problem seems to be with the software.
