Traumatized by the loss of his daughter and, as Bethesda puts it, “a mystery he could never solve,” Sebastian isn’t in the best of places by the time the survival horror sequel kicks off, but the faintest glimmer of hope offered by a traitorous friend from the past (perhaps Juli Kidman?) spurs him into action. To be in with a chance to get his missing daughter back, Sebastian’s left with no choice but to surrender himself to the warped world of STEM and, as fans of the first game will know, nothing but monstrous abominations live there.

Nothing provides a better example of that than today’s enigmatic ‘Survive’ trailer but unlike Sebastian’s forced entry into STEM, players have a wealth of options at their disposal in combating its inhabitants. Whether you prefer a stealth approach, the less inconspicuous method of pumping shotgun shells into everything that moves or a mix of both, Bethesda says every playstyle will be catered for in the sequel, with exploration too, a key – but not essential – component to your journey.

The Evil Within 2 has, fittingly, been given a Friday the 13th October release date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and those who pre-order will gain access to The Last Chance Pack, a bonus DLC filled with items to help Sebastian survive his descent into chaos this fall. See the full contents below.

  • The Burst Handgun – This exclusive weapons is available only through The Last Chance Pack and uses handgun bullets that can be found or crafted.
  • Crafting Supplies – Upgrade your go-to weapon, craft additional ammo, or make traps to incapacitate enemies with these supplies, available at the start of your descent into Union.
  • Medical Case – You’ll need to stay alive if you want to save Lily, and these supplies will give you the aid you need to venture deeper into the madness.
