Third Fortnite Season 10 Teaser Image Hints At Time Travel Theme

Fortnite Season 10 is but a stone's throw away and Epic Games is doing it all can to drum up hype for what lies ahead. That's to be expected, of course, given that content updates of this magnitude only come around every three months but this time there's a special kind of excitement in the air. That could be due to this week's upcoming refresh being the battle royale's first double-digit season or, alternatively, a result of the overall theme being teased by Epic.

Last weekend during the Fortnite World Cup, the studio unleashed its first hype-building teaser image for Season 10, one that, as spotted by eagle-eyed players, featured Dusty Divot in the background. Longtime fans will no doubt recall the location’s destruction in a previous season and with it seemingly confirmed to return, speculation in regards to how it’s coming back has led to but one conclusion: Time travel.

Well, folks, that appears to be exactly what’s happening, and you can check out today’s follow-up for yourself down below, along with the previous teaser images:

“Twist Time,” reads the caption on social media, followed by the date August 1st, 2019. The latter is undoubtedly a reference to Season 10’s expected release date, but it’s the cryptic phrase preceding it that’s got tongues furiously wagging. As if we really needed further evidence of time-travelling shenanigans following yesterday’s image, there’s no doubting it now that Season 9’s successor will involve shifts both forward and backwards through time.

How Epic intends to have such a feature translate into gameplay is anyone’s guess, though it’s probably safe to assume that it won’t be freely available. You wouldn’t want to shoulder the blame for causing an irreversible paradox now, would you? Whatever the case, the purple-hued silhouettes featured in today’s tease appear to show off some of the new cosmetics coming, too, one of which can only be described as the long lost brother of Ghost Rider.

Expect a full data-mine of Fortnite Season 10’s new Battle Pass to surface over the next few days. Stay tuned.
