New Character Firestorm Revealed For Injustice 2

The latest addition to Injustice 2's superpowered roster is Firestorm, a new video from YouTube channel UpUpDown has confirmed. Direct footage of the combatant in action begins at around the 7-minute mark, revealing the hot-headed (literally) character to be a predominantly ranged attacker that can keep opponents at bay through the use of incendiary projectiles. On the rare occasion that boring, regular fire doesn't work to stop enemies in their tracks, Firestorm can turn up the heat and buff his fiery repertoire, turning the usual red flames blue for increased potency.

On the rare occasion that boring, regular fire doesn’t work to stop enemies in their tracks, Firestorm can turn up the heat and buff his fiery repertoire, turning the usual red flames blue for increased potency. Whether he’s cornered or needs to close a gap, Firestorm also has a torpedo ability at his disposal, which sees him accelerate towards his opponent at blistering speed.

With Injustice 2‘s release date approaching fast, I imagine there aren’t a whole lot more characters left for NetherRealm to reveal, but given how large and varied its roster already is, any further additions at this point are just going to be icing on the cake for many DC fans. With Swamp Thing, Cyborg and Poison Ivy being but a small number of the recent announcements, both iconic and obscure DC creations are already being represented on equal footing, but who’s next?

With a wealth of history to draw from, the answer to that question is anyone’s guess, so we’ll just have to wait and see what NetherRealm has in store over the coming weeks. In the meantime, in case you missed it, last week saw the second part of the beat ’em up’s Shattered Alliances video series released, once again teasing the rising tensions between Superman and Batman. Check it out below.

Injustice 2 is out May 16 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
