According to a report by Gematsu, Level-5 Games — the creative mind behind last year’s wonderful, Studio Ghibli-inspired RPG, Ni No Kuni — is gearing up to reveal a new title for the PlayStation 4.

The tease was made during the studio’s livestream of White Knight Chronicles II, where boss Akihiro Hino revealed that Level-5 is indeed planning to lift the curtain on a brand new game in time for E3 2015.

Unfortunately, it was a vague, off the cuff quip from the company head, but Hino did state that he hopes the as-yet-unknown title will be an epic experience that will be bigger in scope than White Knight Chronicles — which would be no mean feat, given that the PlayStation 3 RPG contained around 100 hours of gameplay.

Alas, it’s unclear whether Level-5’s next title will be exclusive to PlayStation 4. Given that Ni No Kuni: Wraith of the White Witch was exclusive to PlayStation 3 when it released last year — 2010’s scaled-down DS release notwithstanding — it seems likely that the studio is working on a direct sequel to the beloved tale of Oliver and Mr. Drippy.

Of course, the Japanese developer may opt to unveil a whole new role-playing experience come E3 2015. We’ll just have to wait until then to find out more about this most mysterious tease.

What do you think? Is Level-5 Games hinting that a direct sequel to Ni No Kuni is on the horizon? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
