When Game Informer released a list of the contents of their upcoming June issue, hidden beneath all of the Assassin’s Creed Revelations buzz was information about another Ubisoft release that doesn’t have anything to do with knives or stealth. That game would be Rayman Origins, a fantastical new two-dimensional installment in the popular platform/action series starring a strange creature with no arms or legs.

Previously announced as a downloadable title to be released in episodic parts, Rayman Origins is now listed as a full retail title (for the 360 and PS3,) with a holiday 2011 release window. The game is apparently designed to be accessible to gamers of all skill levels, with optional four-player co-operative gameplay. Though it’s uncertain as to whether that will be local or online, it’s certainly sure to be quite fun for families and friends. It will also feature unlockable challenges that allow players to bet on their odds of completing a ‘complex, acrobatic chain’ challenge, in order to earn in-game currency in the form of ‘lums.’
